The central chairman of United Marxist Leninist Party affiliated Youth Association Nepal (YAN) Mahesh Basnet has threatened Nepal’s ex-King Gyanendra Shah that he may have to abscond from the country.
Addressing a program organized by the YAN Kavre District Chapter in Banepa August 4, 2012, Basnet threatened, “Lately Gyanendra under this or that pretext is trying to become popular. If he thinks that he will win the public heart by travelling across the country then he is daydreaming.”
“A few royalists howling to revive monarchy is insufficient to revive the institution of the Nepali monarchy,” he claimed.
“Maharaj Sir Uthaune Ku-Chesta” Nagara, Nepal Ko Simapari Saranarthi Bannu Parla”
“Your Majesty do not try to raise your head…You may have to take refuge across the border”.
“With the success of peoples’ uprising, the Shah rule has come to an end. Gyanendra is trying to befool the population by travelling across the country”.
Basnet also threatened both Chairman Pushpa Kamal Dahal and Vice Chairman Baburam of Unified Maoists party to be limited in the pages of history if they do not come to terms to the demands being raised from the streets.
