Prime Minister Baburam in his interaction with a select group of press men, Friday August 3, 2012 complained about pressures being exerted by immediate neighbors, India and China on the internal matters of Nepal.
According to Kantipur Daily, Baburam told journalists, “You are well aware that one of our neighbors has made its view clear over federalism. You are also aware of what happened at time of appointment of government’s chief secretary.”
On ethnic federalism, China has been ventilating its dissatisfaction though various channels and reports also confirmed that Indian ambassador Jayant Prasad had exerted extreme pressures on Prime Minister Baburam to elevate the rank of a government secretary of Madhesi origin to the post of Chief Secretary.
“Our key lay elsewhere. But we cannot also surrender ourselves”, said Baburam.
He also criticized President Ram Baran for inviting one of opposition leaders Yaswant Sinha from India without seeking consent from the government.
Dr. Yadav perhaps has exceeded his constitutional limits, opine analysts.
