Nepal Kings were never Indian puppets: Kamal Thapa

Chairman Kamal Thapa of Rastriya Prajatantra Party Nepal in his exclusive talks with Nagarik National Daily, August 3, 2012, claims that basically India’s prime interests in Nepal are its security, economic and political comfort.

He also advises that those ‘interests’ should not be taken ‘negatively’.

Is Thapa talking this?

“The problem lay with our own leaders because they themselves have become the carrier of India’s interests in Nepal”, claims Thapa.

“In order to materialize our economic interests we need also to establish better and balanced relations with both India and China.”

He did not make it clear as to whether he is talking of having equi-distance or equi-proximity with our immediate neighbours?

“India needs to understand that putting in place a puppet government in Nepal will not work for India either. Our leaders have become their puppets. But, there is great distaste amidst general Nepali population towards India which is not good for both the countries”.

“Don’t you think that Nepal’s kings were also puppets of India,” asks Nagarik.

“This is not true. After 2007 B.S., particularly when King Mahendra became the King of Nepal tried to come out of India’s influence, it was since then a faction in the Indian politics became suspicious and considered that Monarchy was the main obstacle. Lately when King Gyanendra took the Magh 19 decision India had perceived that India thought that it would be taken into confidence. That also did not happen. It is in the same room the then Indian Ambassador Shiv Shankar Mukherjee told me that the King had cheated India. He had met the King few days back. The King had indicated nothing to him. Later in the SAARC, the King took the stand in favor of awarding observer status to China, which took India by surprise. It was since then relations between King and India turned bitter.”

“India was all set to take revenge. By then Maoists too had become certain that they cannot win Kathmandu by any means. The Maoists wanted satta at any cost. The Maoists adopted the strategy to create fissure between the King and the political parties. The idea was to cooperate with one to dupe the other. They then asked the King to cooperate. The King had the army behind him. They wanted to side with the King and dump the political parties once and for all. In an encounter with Baburam he has asked me if the King will hand over power to Maoists or not. The King did not heed to their request either. They then sided with the political parties. They then signed the 12 Point Agreement.

  • Nepal ex-king was not puppet of India. It is true. When SAARK conference King Gyanedra was purposed to China as a Prayabhechhayak(guest or inviting )but cool mind Indian region was thinking presence of China could weaken role of India. that is why they were trying to wipeout the monarchical institution then Girija Babu got work to agianst king and monarchical institution. It was bad inspiration Girija got from Indian masters.Ex-king was thinking to make SAARK countries stronger it was necessity of China. Ex-king was more intelligent than Indian leaders. But short terms political ambitious of India Nepali became instability and even Girija became so far from the path of BP Koirala.Now Congress is praising the BP, Ganeshman and Kisunji it is only drama for Congess party. That is why Congress party is going to weaken day by day. If they would strong the those three political and soical figures path they immediately restablish the monarchical institution without delay.Those bad thigs done by Girija Babu even He could nto became the first president of Nepal. In this way Prachand was hero but Girija Babu became O in past politics.AS well most inportant thing now Baburram is PM of Nepal but in rality He is the Shadow PM of Nepal. but still Prachand is PM of Nepal without certificate. That is why Baburam is Baliko boko.Prachand is giving the blessing to Baburam that is why He is still able to live in PM palace. Come what may UML and Congress top leaders are look like jackles but Prachand is a tigaer. He has a magic bullet when UML and Congress leaders get magic bullet then they have compulsion to be faint.In negative way Pracha is a Kamdheni cow. Otherwise if Girija Babu was not gready in politics why without integration of Maoists militia hastly Maoists got opportunity to take the part of politics. But most of the political party top party leaders main intention was to wipeout the 240 year old historical and political monarchical institution. That is why it is time for them to wipeout like they did monarchical institution. That is why UML and Congress should go to Prachand Niwas as bow down to Him as a god.Prachand can take double incarnation(abtar) like Rama abtar and Ravan avtar. When He took the Ravan Avtrar more than 13 thousand peopel got killed and a lot of infrastrurcture damaged or ruined and a lot of people badly or seriously or minelry injured and so on for the name of political change. Now He is taking the vital role to build the Lumbini region that is why it more or less sound He is going to be a Rama. If PN Shah did not uniified the great Nepal how it possible to enjoy by so-called New Nepal political actors of Nepa as their parental property. Independent is one of the most important thing to any country even the dectators countries but in Nepali politics all those things are putting in garbage what kind of major top political leaders are in Nepal? We have lack of evaluation and analysis every thing is mess. When so-called major top political leaders could get the historical and political development lesson then they could get knowledge and wisdom. But anyway majority of people are still would like to restablishment of monarchical institution, but it is difficult to explore because democracy is only for so-called major top political party leaders in Nepal. Otherwise people have right to give their verdict over monarchical institution.Monarchical institutions was good for every top political party leaders of Nepal whether Tarai or Pahad based.

  • That is true thats why we are in survival.He saved the nation and neplai at the cost of his own crown and thrown.We should appreciate the stand of Nepali Monarch who always kept in mind Nepal first. Muni has disclosed all truth now understand who is who? and treat likewise. Nepali suffered like a beast these days.   • Silent majority is well aware of the fact that Nepal's King never kow towed to Indians. The price has been heavy for them personally. King G recluctance to compromise national sovereignty is what did him in. Just 12 point agreement is evidence enough of traitors compromises and Sikkimization process
