“Forces that were against peace and democracy had been defeated by Nepali Congress at various intervals of times. Rana, Panchayat and Royal regimes had been defeated by the Nepali Congress”, recalled President Sushil Koirala addressing a program organized by the party in Barahbise of Sindhupalchowk, July 30, 2012.
But with whose support? Frail Koirala did not reveal perhaps out of shame.
However, critics sharply differ with Koirala in that every time NC has been adjudged victorious the country has been defeated. The NC victory has always been at the cost of Mother Nepal.
Every time NC has been brought to power, foreign interference has grown to an intolerable limit, Nepali sovereignty, territorial integrity and nationalism has been severely compromised, also claim critics.
The NC is holding a district president conference in Barahbise.
Koirala continued his lecture, “We are ready to exhibit utmost flexibility to forge consensus. If Maoists continue to ridicule our efforts they will be forcefully brought back to the streets.”
Or sent back to the same place from where they were safely brought back in kathmandu under "instructions from above"?
“Ours is a different party. We by our structured line give priority to talks, consensus, unity and cooperation”, he said and criticized Maoists again, “The ongoing Maoists conspiracy will not continue for long.”
Senior leader Sher Bahadur and vice president Ram Chandra also spoke on the occasion.
