Anti corruption drive in Nepal a must: NC leader Poudel

Telegraph Nepal

While his close party mates Jaya Prakash Prasad Gupta, Govinda Raj Joshi and Chirinjibi Wagle are serving imprisonment for amassing wealth in astronomical amount, Vice President Ram Chandra Poudel of Nepali Congress claimed addressing a program in Kathmandu that ‘anti-corruption drive should be made the national agenda’.

Mr. Wagle has freshly been released after completion of his penance inside the prison.

The presumed and widely believed ‘three Girija stooges’ Gupta, Joshi and Wagle had served as powerful ministers in the cabinet led by the so-called ‘Sikhar Purush’ Late Girija Prasad Koirala at various time intervals.

Girija left for his heavenly abode, March 20, 2010. (Rest in peace).

Critics quip “Just imagine the wealth Girija (RIP) himself would have collected if his stooges amassed so much of wealth”. Hmmm…! Presumably he should have been the man behind the scene. Questions now come to the minds of each and every intellectuals as to who the key person was to collect such under table money on behalf of late Girija?Fodd for investigative Nepali journalists. Or Girija is just being maligned?

Let us concentrate on what Poudel had to say while addressing the program in Lalitpur, July 27, 2012.

“Corruption eradication should be accorded top priority. It should be made the national agenda”, opined Poudel.

Yet, he felt it unnecessary to dwell into the fact that his close party friends have been serving imprisonment for amassing wealth illegally.

He only said, “Under the present government led by the Maoists, corruption, inflation and irregularities have crossed all tolerable limits”.

He yet did not reveal as to wherefrom the money came to him which allowed him to construct a Palace in Kathmandu. Attention CIAA.
