Dev Gurung of the newly formed Maoists party led by Chairman Mohan Baidya Kiran has said that if the Bhattarai government brings in a full-fledged fiscal budget without having proper consultations and forging consensus with the political parties, the nation may have to embrace a formidable political disaster.
Mr. Gurung is the General Secretary of the Maoists party.
“A caretaker government could be allowed to bring in just a caretaker budget only”, Gurung made these observations while talking to a select group of media men in Pokhra, July 6, 2012.
According to Mr. Gurung, a caretaker government should understand its limit and position and act accordingly or else such a move may further deteriorate the environment of forging a consensus among the political parties.
It was some sort of a warning to the government, analysts presume.
Gurung appears not to be that much pleased with the appeal being made by the NC and the UML to the Nepal President for the dismissal of the Bhattarai government instead Gurung believes that a political consensus among the parties should accomplish this task.
“The President can’t sack the Prime Minister”, Gurung opined.
“To unlock the current political deadlock, the Prime Minister should voluntarily submit his resignation and facilitate the formation of a new national consensus government or else the people have the option to come to the streets”, Gurung threatened.
Gurung maintained that the country was being run by the four party syndicate which was unacceptable to his new party.
Gurung also talked about the need for a round table conference.
