With the government led by India groomed and elevated Prime Minister Baburam Bhattarai making all the necessary arrangements to quietly hand over the management of Tribhuwan International Airport (TIA) to one of the Indian companies made public by Kantipur National Daily the other day, the Commission for the Investigation of Abuse of Authority (CIAA) has sought clarifications from Civil Aviation Authority of Nepal (CAAN).
AYO NOON...being repaid.
Spokesperson Ishwari Poudel tells Kantipur that the CIAA has asked the CAAN authorities to furnish all the details of progress made so far in handing over the management of TIA to the foreign company.
The TIA is the single international airport of the “India locked” country.
Similarly, a writ petition has also been filed at the Supreme Court against the government. The petition claims that the caretaker government through illegal means is planning to handover the TIA to India, thus the decision should be annulled.
JNU lessons being brought into practice.
Presently, Unified Maoists’ Party leader Posta Bahadur Bogati heads the ministry of culture, tourism and civil aviation.
This also hints at something very meaningful.
To recall, a decision to allow India deploy air-marshals at the TIA was also made while Hisila Yami- Babu Ram’s wife was the minister of Civil Aviation. The decision was later endorsed by Sarat Singh Bhandari who had later replaced Hisila as the country’s Civial Aviation Minster.
Later, Nepal’s National Security Council Directorate (NSCD)-an advisory board of the Government of Nepal on security matters, had seriously objected the decision and asked the government to revoke its decision.
The advisory board which comprise of defense secretary, representatives of Nepal Army, director of Investigation Authority and representatives of Armed Police Forces had called the Indian pressure to allow deploy its Air Marshals as hegemonic behaviour of India.
Nevertheless, Kantipur also reveals that PM Bhattarai had made verbal assurance to Infrastructure Leasing & Financial Services Limited (IL&FS) that he will manage to handover the management of the TIA to the company during his last trip to India.
He had also assured that the government will manage to guarantee security to its investments in Nepal.
Isn’t Dr. Bhattarai an “investment” of India itself?
The IL&FS is one of India's leading infrastructure development and finance companies with RAW penetration.
In the meantime, the newly formed Nepal Communist Party-Maoist led by Mohan Baidya Kiran has threatened the government to immediately revoke its decision that will have far reaching impact on national security.
The day will soon come when Baburam and his ilk will hand over the entire management of the country to India, critics conclude.
Lendup Dorjes in the making. The Dorjes will soon swell.
Mother Nepal is in trouble. Nationalists awake! Or it would be too late. Save our common mother.
