Oceanic change in Nepal Congress Sushil, no more abusing others

Telegraph Nepal

President Sushil Koirala neither derided at Nepal’s former King not did he threaten to make Maoists fate akin to Gyanendra Shah.

Oceanic change in attitude?

Surprisingly, while Koirala made remarks in praise of his party such as he claimed that the NC was fighting to institutionalize democratic order for the last seven decades, he did not criticize the opponents.

To recall, the Koiralas’ have the habit of insulting others as and when they get the platform.

When will the fight end Koirala did not however, tell the listeners gathered to celebrate 89th birth anniversary of Late Nepali Congress President Girija Prasad Koirala.

According to NC critics the fight to institutionalize democracy in the country will only end with the end of Koirala family dictatorship in the party. Or at best after the end of Nepal as a nation-state.

Long live the Koiralas yet.

“Our party has for over seven decades led the fight to institutionalize the democratic order”, he said and added, “Girija Babu was the one who convinced the Maoists to end the decade long revolt and brought them to democratic politics.”

Critics beg to differ over Koirala’s remarks whether the Maoists had come to NC fold or the otherwise? And which force in New Delhi brought Girija babu (rest in peace) with the Delhi hiding Maoists? Sushil perhaps preferred not to disclose this open secret.

It was Girija’s excessive lust for power that he even compromised on the chartered ideals of the party, it is also talked and Nepal’s political circuit. Nevertheless critics accept that Koirala was a tall and an arrogant Indo-pendent political personality.

There is no order except democracy that provides stability. I urge the Maoists to accept democratic principles wholeheartedly, appealed Sushil Koirala.

Those who stand against democracy will annihilate themselves, Koirala concluded.

  • Tilak ji, Maoists did not fight for unprivilaged, but for power and only power. Yes, they were successful to fool the poor people. The unprivilaged people are still in the same palce but Moaists are billioners and millioners now. If Nepal army was running out of ammunitions, why Maoists came to negotiations after killing 15000 people? If Maoists kenw that, India and US were backing Nepal army they must have known theier defeat, then why they started the war? Instead maoists were hatched and grwon by Indians. If Maoists wanted to save Nepalese, why they continiue killing even after the peace was stablished? What about the 40 points demand? specially the demands related to India? Dis Prachnda or Baburam banned Indian filma and newspapaers? Did they annuled Sugauly treaty? Did they revised trade treaty? Did they closed Gorkha Bharti kendra? I stop here now

  • @Manu yes you are absolutely right manu. Maobadis should be left to die the fate of prabhakaran. You are cent percent right that maobadi would have been wiped out of world if they were not bought to power resulting in nepalese police and army has to do namaste to these killers. You are also very right to say that were they winning the war would they come for negotiating? No, never. They were loosing and these evil devil if they were left in forest to die like a animal nepal and nepalese would breath the peace.... Maobadis completely ruined this beautiful peaceful country. Bhutan now aheads nepal far behind...

  • rakesh and manu are both wrong. Maoists would not have been wiped out as their foundation was at grass root level among the underprivileged. If anything, the then Royal Nepal Army were running out of ammunition and would have been defeated sans Indian/American military support. Maoists coming to peace process saved thousands of Nepalis from losing their lives. Please don't come here wishing death on fellow Nepalis and claiming yourself to be for peace and nonviolence. Your anti-Maoist sentiment sounds more violent and bloody than Maoists ever were.

  • If GPK convinced Maoists to end the fight, that was the biggest blunder of his life. By now Maoists would have been eleimeinated if war was continuing. Yes, loss of Neplaese and physical infrastructures could be enourmous. But there would have been peace and stability in Nepal, this is more important than anything.Nepal could continue to survive for centuries. Now they are commited to disintegrate Nepal itself. The turth is that, no one convinced them to end the fight. They were losing the fight, this is the reason they abandoned it. Nobody, in this world can abandon the wining fight.
