Prime Minister Baburam prior to his departure to Brazil to attend the Rio+20 Summit had summoned his close party mates at the Prime Minister’s residence in Baluatar.
In the said meeting, reports Rajdhani daily quoting sources have it that Prime Minister Baburam was not at all happy with his party chairman Pushpa Kamal Dahal.
So who is happy with Chairman Dahal?
“Including Chairman Prachanda some of his followers in the party want to take penal action against me for not abiding by the party request (not to attend the summit). I have the information that they want to bring the government down,” Bhattarai said, “I see no other alternative than to tender my resignation and quit.”
The party secretary Krishna Bahadur Mahara is the one who has been strongly favoring action against Prime Minister Bhattarai, it is also reported.
Bhattarai in the meeting had also claimed that he had received the information from some leaders from the NC, UML and leaders from Dahal faction.
On the other hand, Prime Minister Baburam’s political advisor Devendra Poudel Sunil is firm that Prime Minister will not resign under any pretext.
“Immediate resignation is impossible. The party central committee will decide on this matter.”
In the meantime, Krishna Bahadur Mahara has reportedly advised Chairman Pushpa Kamal Dahal to take action against Baburam Bhattarai and initiate unity dialogue with the splinter led by Mohan Baidya for reuniting the party.
It is also reported that Mahara is holding meetings with the leaders of Baidya panel to reunite the party.
Will Dahal and Bhattarai split? Chances remain high.
