The newly formed Nepal Communist Party-Maoist led by Chairman Mohan Baidya ‘Kiran’ could use the hidden arms and ammunitions for the cause of his party, so claimed United Marxist Leninist leader Madhav Kumar Nepal while addressing a program in Kathmandu, Saturday June 24, 2012.
“The arms and ammunitions that were hidden by the Maoists could be used by the new Maoists splinter,” claimed Madhav Nepal.
Is he talking about the weapons supplied to the Maoists then by the Indian establishment? Or talking of the Dang military weapon loot?
Nepal made these remarks addressing a program organized by the central committee of Nepal Intellectual Council—possibly a UML affiliate.
“The Maoists had to surrender their weapons and militia to the Nepal Army because they were under intense pressure. But they have submitted only a fraction of the weapons they possessed. A huge cache of weapons are still hidden somewhere. With the split in the Maoists party it is highly likely that Mohan Baidya faction could recover the weapons and use it in the days ahead.”
“The present political disorder should also become a matter of interest for the president. It is not only the responsibility of the political parties. The president should also take up the matter seriously. There is no parliament. The president must hold discussions with the parties for forging a national consensus.”
Nepal also advised Prime Minister Baburam to immediately tender his resignation.
