The 22 Party in what had been advertised and organized as a ‘show of strength’ against Unified Maoists’ Party led coalition government demanding its resignation proved to be an unproductive exercise as people showed their least interest in the proven failed political actors.
Back square to one that is from Ratnapark to Ratnapark, if one were to recall. History repeated itself so fast?
The mass meet was organized at Tudikhel, Kathmandu, June 8, 2012.
“Perhaps there are more speakers than listeners”, said a bystander and added, “Show of weakness.”
This spoke symbolically of the people’s disregard for the parties developed over these NOIDA years.
None of the speakers were clear with their vision except in that they heavily criticized the Unified Maoists.
“In the absence of monarchy, had the Unified Maoists party too not existed where would have these vision less parties pushed the country towards”, comment critics.
President Sushil Koirala of Nepali Congress who is not even considered a satisfactory speaker was of the view that the Unified Maoists party was taking on to the course of self destruction.
Notably, this time around Sushil did not criticize the institution of monarchy. He nevertheless kept on referring to the so-called ‘theory of reconciliation’ propounded by ‘Maha-manab’ B.P. Koirala.
Late Koirala must have shed his precious tears in the heaven (Rest in peace).
Chairman Jhalnath Khanal, of the Sunsari Regmi’s fame, yet claimed that if PM Baburam does not resign he will be dragged out of his Baluwatar residence by the public as they did with the former dictators. He also did not refer to Nepal’s last King Gyanendra Shah.
But which people will come to his party’s support?
Khanal claimed that the election was a drama staged by the Unified Maoists’ Party.
In all, the show of strength turned out to be a real fiasco.
Yet the “energetic” Senior leader Sher Bahadur Deuba of NC forwarded three alternatives to resolve the present political stalemate.
“First, CA revival should be prioritized, second referendum and CA election. The best of three alternatives is the revival of CA”, Deuba claimed.
Once again abstract proposition.
Deuba claimed that the Maoists’ are actually not in favor of the welfare of the Janajatis and also of other marginalized communities.
“The Maoists’’ Newa: state in charge is a Brahmin. The in charge of Limbuwan is a Chhetri. How can the Maoists be in favor of Janajatis,” questioned Deuba who is otherwise not taken as a brilliant Nepali leader.
“But, isn’t it a positive Maoists’ community unity move Mr. Deuba? Think again,” critics suggest.
Senior leader Madhav Kumar Nepal, who happily receives election defeats, claimed that since the birth of Maoists’ party, the party has caused only pain to the public. “They have looted, killed and provoking one community against the other”, also claimed Nepal.
But weren’t you election defeated Mr. Nepal who remained instrumental in bringing the Maoists from New Delhi? Albeit you must have been told to do so by some “aliens” who were very much friendly to late Girija Prasad Koirala then?
Shedding crocodile tears.
K.P. Sharma Oli of United Marxist Leninist claimed that they have made great efforts to bring the Maoists’ on the right track but all efforts have gone to the dogs.
By the way, Oli is shortly landing to Delhi. Perhaps he will bring in medicines for Nepal ailments.
Former Panchas, Surya Bahadur Thapa of Rastriya Janshakri Party, Lokendra Bahadur Chand and Pashupati Rana of Rastriya Prajatantra Party warned towards a possible political accident.
In all, with least participation of public and unenthusiastic and stale rhetoric lectures of the 22 party leaders in the mass meet has made it clear the show of strength has turned into their show of weakness. Thy fate slide now begins. The flop show thus ended.
