Nepal: Baidya says it is regrouping of likeminded people, not split

Telegraph Nepal

The process to form a new party has been initiated, claimed Unified Maoists’ Party senior vice chairman Mohan Baidya ‘Kiran’.

The panel led by Kiran, generally taken as the team of the hardliners, had organized a press meet in Kathmandu wherein Baidya in presence of leaders loyal to him, declared that his panel can no longer share the party with the leaders of the party establishment.

“Let us call it a unity between likeminded people rather than calling it a split in the existing Unified Maoists Party. This is the process of separation with the opportunists”, Baidya defined his version of party split in this manner.

Split has henceforth a new definition. Baidya ba's new definition.

The press meet was held at the office of the party's Newa State Committee in Kupandole of Lalitpur.

Kiran also demanded formation of an all party government which he claimed was necessary to revive the obstructed constitution drafting process. He however, ridiculed possibility of another Constituent assembly election.
