Nepal Maoists Chairman Dahal claims his party bagged victory

Telegraph Nepal

Pushpa Kamal Dahal appears in an exclusive interview with the Nagarik National Daily with a big bang. In Dahal’s opinion, even after the dissolution of the Constituent Assembly, victory has come to the Maoists’ fold.

“It seems sometime while a battle is being fought we are lagging behind and the other side is winning. I believe that the War as such is being won by us. There are several battles ongoing within a war. I think that we have won the war though in the battles we may lose some time”.

When asked if Maoists will remain adamant in their stand in favor of ethnic federalism replies Dahal, “Have we ever said that we are in favor of creating states based on single ethnicity? Indeed, ethnicity and group identity are primary, however they are not complete. Geography, culture and historical background are also linked with identity. I accept that in the manner people were misinformed of our stand it has certainly affected the Kathmandu based medium class people.”

When asked intelligently by Basant Basnet for Nagarik daily on Baburam being labeled as a caretaker prime minister by President Ram Baran, Dahal claims that the president might have been under intense political pressure.

“It is not possible. Anyway he (president) might have been receiving differing comments from people who belong to various sections of our society. He might have been pressurized by such comments and might also have (made the comment) been under political coercion”.
