Nepal Maoists party awaiting vertical split, only miracle can avert

Telegraph Nepal

With the dissolution of the so-called sovereign Constituent Assembly, the erstwhile largest party in the CA body is inching closer to a dangerous vertical split.

Claims spokesperson of the establishment panel, Dinanath Sharma, “Now it is very difficult to keep the party united and intact. They have gone too far from us. We will still try hard to remain together.”

In the meantime, Vice Chairman Narayan Kaji Shrestha who belongs to the establishment faction met with the General Secretary Ram Bahadur Thapa ‘Badal’ of Baidya panel, it is reported.

Shrestha claims, “I requested him not to split the party but he instead claimed that it will be very difficult for them, the Baidya panel, to remain together with us in a single party.”

Similarly, Netra Bikram Biplav of the hardliner panel claims, “The party prime leadership (Pushpa Kamal Dahal) has been a failure. Their strategy has failed miserably. There is no chance of drafting peoples’ constitution. We have deep ideological differences with them, unity is impossible”, Chand summed up.

NOIDA finally meets the expected fate. (See five questions: telegraphnepal.com).
