Nepal Congress CA member Adhikari quits, upbeat precedence in place

Telegraph Nepal

The Nepali Congress leader, Advocate Radhe Shyam Adhikary is being hailed for his daring act to tender his resignation as the member of the Constituent Assembly deploring government’s act for extending the CA term by registering a bill in the parliament, but critics suspect that Adhikary’s fresh move may have been to support the elevation of President Sushil Koirala as a member of the Constituent Assembly.

Sushil is not a CA member.

Adhikary nevertheless, contends that the bill registered by the government ignores judicial supremacy as the SC has already capped further extension of CA term.

Rumors have it that Sushil Koirala could take over the charge of the nation after CA term extended, which has already been agreed by major parties.

“Democracy is based on rule of law. The government itself wants to break the system,” Adhikari says in his resignation.

Yet Advocate Adhikari deserves appreciation.Bravo Mr. Adhikari.

  • Very good decision. There is no marale to stick on CA post after failing to make constitution within the extended period of 2 more years. All other goons of 601 too should resign Jestha 14 according to the ruling of Supreme Court if they fail to meet the deadline. Revised 1990 constitution with decentralization is the best.
