Issues remain settled, Nepal parties make secret deal: Minister

One of the ministers in the Baburam Bhattarai led cabinet has disclosed that major parties have already reached a clandestine deal to resolve all thorny issues of constitution drafting.

Minister for Local Development Top Bahadur Rayamajhi told this while addressing a program in Gulmi that the parties have already resolved disputes over governance model and state restructuring.

“Outwardly the parties are expressing their differences but internally all disputes related to federalism and mode of governance have been resolved,” he claimed.

According to reports, parties have already come to terms over a ‘mixed model’ for governance and disputes over judiciary; and citizenship too has already been resolved. Reports further confirm that by Thursday, May 3, 2012, the parties will also settle their differences over issues of federalism such as number of states, demarcation and their respective names.
