Nepal: Efforts in progress to replace Prez Yadav with Mahanta Thakur

Telegraph Nepal

Nepal’s major parties are nearing a deal to form states based on ethnicity. The Unified Maoists’ Party, Nepali Congress, United Marxist Leninist and Unified Democratic Madhesi Alliance held two rounds of discussion, Saturday April 18, 2012.

The meeting(s) were held at the Constituent Assembly premises.

The Nepali Congress had been strongly resisting against formation of states based on ethnicity. With United Marxist Leninist Party that until the other day opposed the Maoists agenda for ethnic federalism also coming to terms with the Maoists party, poor Nepali Congress leaders have begun holding discussions among themselves to make a quick decision.

Until the other day, the Nepali Congress and United Marxist Leninist had been proposing formation of seven states however the UML has begun advocating for twelve states now. The UML forwarded the new proposition at the meeting between parties.

Bhim Rawal of UML told the media that the parties could be convinced between 7 to 12 states.

Eric Solheim perhaps has intervened in a secret manner.

In the meeting, PM Baburam, Chairman Pushpa Kamal, Narayan Kaji, Dev Gurung and Khimlal had represented the Unified Maoists’ Party. Chairman Jhalnath, Madav Nepal and Rawal were representing the UML. The poor Nepali Congress party was led none other than frail president Sushil, vice chairman Ram Chandra Poudel, Sher Bahadur and Krishna Sitaula.

Mahanta Thakur and Bijaya Kumar Gacchedhar had represented the Madhesi Alliance.

By the way, there are rumours that bids are afoot to replace Ram Baran Yadav by Mahanta Thakur as the president of the country after May 28 and similarly, Mr. 12 point Sitaula could any time be elevated as the country’s home minister.

Glaring example of Delhi manipulation in a subtle manner. New “investment” perhaps will time permitting take a “desired” shape.
