Kathmandu-based EU missions together with Norway, Switzerland and Australia have made the following joint statement: Full text begins.

“EU missions together with Norway, Switzerland and Australia welcome the present progress on the implementation of the peace process and the commitment to complete the Constitution drafting process within time.

The new momentum and progress achieved in the high level negotiations on system of governance and a new national government structure for Nepal, including contentious constitutional issues, is encouraging. We hope that the momentum will contribute to the completion of a new democratic and inclusive constitution responding to the aspirations of the Nepali people, while containing adequate checks and balances, and strengthening the rule of law. Whilst acknowledging impending deadlines, we also urge all political parties to ensure that adequate public consultation processes on the constitution remain in place.

In the context of the substantial progress already achieved recently on the peace process and the expectations for more conclusive discussions, we would like to note that the fight against impunity and adequate investigation and prosecution of conflict-era human rights violations should not be sacrificed to the need of expedient solutions in other areas. We urge all parties to ensure the transitional justice mechanisms are established with full independence and in compliance with international standards. We strongly believe that transitional justice mechanisms which are genuinely independent, seek both truth and reconciliation, and which give victims the fullest opportunity for redress, are essential to consolidate the peace process.

The EU together with Norway, Switzerland and Australia reaffirm their support to the peace process at this pivotal time and look forward to the finalization of the Constitution. This will pave the way for free and fair elections and ensure lasting peace and stability in Nepal.”

  • Dear Editor, It is matter of grief, why the EU missions- Norway, Switzerland diplomatsprestige. Since, EUs and westeren countries are involving in Nepal to support the anarchism with Maoists. The uprising of 2006 took place with direct Indian support and the fear instilled by the Maoists’ arms. India had given assurance to the leaders of Nepali Congress, UML and Maoist party that if they agreed the 12-point agreement, they would find the leadership of the new government. And Indian intelligence wing ‘RAW’and CIA played an active role in the uprising, providing the economic and other material support. In accordance to the 12 and representitives are visiting in Nepal? To destroy Nepalese prestige and identities? We Nepalese people the wecome and respect the guists cordially, but we Never suport them to intervene and minimize the Nepalese -point understanding UNMIN was invited in Nepal. The 12-point agreement and the presence of UNMIN became a matter of crisis for Nepal. After coming to Nepal UNMIN started to develop a special relation with the Maoist in name of peace treaty. Then the EUs including Norway and UNMIN's joined their hands with the Maoist to destroy Nepalese unity in the name of republic, secularism and federalism. Republish, secularism is not Nepalese agendas. This cooperation was the result of policy based conspiracy of India and America. So we the nepalese people can't like the suggestions and advices of these nonsense countries who want to destroy Nepal. Due to the traitors' regime, Nepal is in danger position. Due to the anarchist-Maoist regime in Nepal the supporters of Democratic System are in risk. The intention of Maoist is to create one party communist regime. They never support constitutional democratic system. Then, we should find the solution to save Nepal- constitutionally. The 1990 Constitution was not abolished in a appropriate constitutional manner. The 1990 Constitution should be reinstated to provide a momentum for the nation. This is the point of solution. We must remain alert from foreign conspiracy and suicidal activities of despicable leaders. It is high time we sacrifice in name of country by joining shoulder to shoulder with the national army, security organs and patriotic Nepali people with the King. Thank you Dirgha Raj Prasai Kathmandu

  • I agree with you Dirgha Raj. It was a great mistake done by Nepali people. But, here I couldn't understand one thing, how people of Nepal bearing intervention of outsider. Since beginning I am seeing each outsider giving a remark which is being a ironical towards Nepali.
