One of the sitting ministers representing Unified Maoists Party has claimed that chairmen of three major parties, Pushpa Kamal, Sushil and Jhalnath will be chased away from the country if they settle for anything less than the formation of federal states based on ethnicity.
Addressing an interaction program in Kathmandu, April 17, 2012, Culture Minister Gopal Kirati who created history by leading a crowd that hurled shoes at the then Indian Ambassador Rakesh Sood claimed that including his party chairman Pushpa Kamal, Nepali Congress President Sushil and UML chairman Jhalanath will be ‘sent on exile’ if they conspire against formation of states based on ethnic identity.“Conspiracy against ethic federalism will trigger another revolt”, he threatened.
Kirati should know that NOIDA will provide, as usual, them with the needed shelter if told to go on exile. Kirati maintained that there should be at least 11 states as per the recommendations of the State Restructuring committee of the Constituent Assembly.
Kirati’s remarks are against the Hattiban talks wherein the three leaders according to reports have made a deal on formation of eight states.
“Our party will split if the party leaders conclude on formation of eight states”, Minister Kirati thundered.
