The leaders who were at the helm of state affairs during three decades of Panchayat period under the direct protection of the institution of monarchy are the ones who have turned their back when the institution needed them most.
Souls sold.
Prominent among the list of such disloyal leaders is Surya Bahadur Thapa of Rastriya Janshakti, claim his detractors.
Responding to queries of journalists at the Simra Airport of Bara district, Thapa in reply said “Monarchy has limited into the pages of history and its revival was a distant cry only”.
Thapa takes him as a strong republican leader but yet journalist take him a staunch royalist thus questions of these sort keep on troubling him. Poor Thapa!
“We have moved far ahead. There is no possibility of return”, he said and added, “We cannot accept monarchy once again.”
Could be that he has been dictated to tell so by his mentors across the border! Politics never goes straight. After all Thapa is a top class conspiratorial brain.
Thapa also claimed that the Supreme Court decision to limit the CA term has finally given hopes that the constitution will be drafted on time. He nevertheless, suspected that a imperfect constitution will be promulgated. He also made it clear that federalism based on ethnicity and religion was not acceptable to his party.
