Nepal Maoists Chairman Dahal invited to Delhi, reasons unclear

Telegraph Nepal

New Delhi is planning to invite Chairman Pushpa Kamal Dahal of Unified Maoists’ Party. Parsu Ram Kafley, a promising Nepali journalist, writes for Nepali vernacular daily The Himalaya Times, April 8, 2012, that the plan is to get Nepal’s peace and constitutional process completed as ‘suggested and advised’ by the Indian leadership.

However, the invitation is being forwarded by Bihar’s Chief Minister and senior leader of Janata Dal (United) Nitish Kumar. Sharad Yadav is the President of the party who enjoys intimate relations with Chairman Prachanda.

General Secretary and spokesperson K.C. Tyagi of Jantadal (United) told journalist Kafely over telephone, that “We had forwarded invitation twice in the past. But, the visit could not take place due to various reasons. We are forwarding the invitation again. His New Delhi visit at this juncture will be important considering peace and constitutional process in Nepal has reached its final stage.”

Dahal will also be traveling to Patna.

Tyagi also claimed while talking to Kaphle, “I would not like to pinpoint any one as such but some people tried to deteriorate relations between the Unified Maoists’ Party and the Indian administration.”

Kafley writes, “Tyagi was pointing his figures towards former Indian envoy Rakesh Sood.”

“Time is appropriate for Chairman Prachanda to visit New Delhi,” Tyagi further reiterated.

“There is no obstacle whatsoever for Chairman Dahal to meet Prime Minister Manmohan and Chairwoman Sonia Gandhi of Congress-I,” Tyagi adds.

However, analysts presume that New Delhi’s sudden soft corner acquired towards Maoists Chairman Dahal may be to convince through him to his Indian comrades not to go on rampage and seek assistance from the visiting Nepali guests that no weapons as such approach to the Indian Maoists through Nepali soil.

India suspects the Nepal Maoists hardliners supplying lethal weapons to their Indian comrade-in-arms.

Very freshly, the Indian SSB has reported that the Nepali Maoists were sending AK-47 Rifles to their Indian Comrades. DR. Singh has already mentioned that the biggest security threat to India is from the Indian Maoists itself.

Dr. Man Mohan Singh, India’s proxy Prime Minister, may have recalled Jakarata speech made by one distinguished Nepali national some six years back around this time.

He had said “terrorism is terrorism” whether it be in Nepal or in any part of the world.

Secondly, Dahal in all likelihood will be told to accept the 1990 constitution as is being planned by the Indian regime for Nepal.

Dahal hopefully will simply provide his positive nod to the Indian dictates, analysts guess.

He has to for some understandable reasons.
