Nepal needs positive peace not a dead one: Netra Bikram

Telegraph Nepal

The word threat has found several new definitions, astonishing as well, in the new Republican Nepal. Perhaps imported ones.

Threat could be for federalism denial. It could be if the Charter is not drafted on time. Threat also looms large of identity based federal order if rejected.

One Madhesh Pradesh denial has already the threat of fingers being cut. Sri Lanka Bana Dengey threat prevails round the clock.

And here is a threat if the constitution is drafted but if that doesn’t come in favour of the people.

In all, threat is everywhere. As if it was a Threat Federal Democratic-Gantantrik New Nepal.

Now a fresh threat is in the offing if Netra Bikram Chand aka Biplav is denied a people’s oriented constitution.

Others may pose a similar threat if the Constitution is made as per the preferences of Netra Bikram-the hardliner from the Mohan Baidya camp.

Threat is also for failing in reviving the 1990 constitution.

Says Netra Bikram, “We will set ablaze the constitution immediately after it is promulgated if that is not a people oriented one as is being demanded by the people”.

Chand made these threat loaded statement while addressing a meet in Phungliung, the Head Querters of Taplejung, April 6, 2012.

Terrifying his “sober” audience further threatens Chand that “if there is any conspiracy hatched against the promulgation of a people’s constitution, a final revolt can’t be ruled out”.

“For the people, a positive peace is needed but not a dead one and that the people now demand their rights being ensured and secured much more than having a constitution”, thundered Chand which must have frightened his listeners in Phungling.

“A dead peace carries no meaning”, is what he said.

According to Netra Bikram, bids are on in order to blunt the people’s army in the name of integration by forcing them to submit their weapons.

“Prachanda and Babu Ram are making efforts to submit themselves in the name of Army integration which will not be acceptable to our team”.

He, however, assured his terrified listeners that the party for the moment will not see a vertical split.

Nevertheless, he made it clear that though some foreign forces in collaboration with the local status quoists were up against the draft of the constitution and thus there is the need for the unity among the people.

Wasn’t it a threat loaded statement?
