Don’t insist on King’s return instead work for nationalism: Ex-Nepal King

The former Nepal Sovereign, Gyanendra Shah, making a sentimental plea to his followers scattered in various political parties and some others who had come to bid farewell  at GETA Airport, Nepalgunj, said “don’t make any demands for the restoration of Nepali Monarchy at the moment instead make efforts in favour of preserving Nepali nationalism”.

He made these observations while accepting a “petition” letter from his supporters from all shades of life prior to his departure to Kathmandu winding up his five days long trip to the Western part of the country.

The petition letter addressed to the former Nepal King, as per the Sourya daily dated April 3, 2012, demands his grand comeback.

The petitioners claim that the present day political leaders have left the nation in the middle of deep Blue Ocean and thus he must stage a comeback in order to save Nepal from the current misery and provide a safe landing to the radar less nation.

Upon receiving the petition, the former monarch had said, “Don’t talk of the Nepal King and the restoration of the Royal institution but concentrate your entire strength on matters related with the safeguarding of Nepali nationalism”.

The petition letter was supposed to be handed over to former Nepal King right on March 31, 2012, itself, however, due to his busy schedule, it was submitted on April 2, 2012 at the airport.

According to the Sourya daily, the Organising committee which welcomed the former King comprised of the local leaders from RPP-Nepal, RPP-Rana, Rastriya Jan Shakti Party-Thapa and Shiv Sena-Nepal.

He hoped that those parties who were presumably closer to him should come under single umbrella and champion the cause of Nepali nationalism, said Chaatra Bahadur Shahi who is the Kailali Secretary of the RPP-Nepal.

“If the parties who stand in favour of the Nepal monarchy converge and work for enhancing Nepali nationalism in a united manner then the entire problems confronting the nation would be solved”, said the former Nepal King.  

Prior to his Kathmandu return, he assured the local followers that he will soon make a fresh trip to those areas in the West which he could not make this time.

  • Those so-said great politicians who are capturing state power in the name of people and democracy need to take lesson from Nepal's monarch who is for nation not for power.
