Nepal Royalists appeal ex-King to stage a comeback in media presence

Telegraph Nepal

Nepal’s Former King Gyanendra Shah suddenly turned serious when his supporters told him that the institution of monarchy was overthrown in a conspiratorial manner.

“We urge Your Majesty to stage a comeback at any cost. We know that the institution was sidelined without having clear mandate of the people,” said a Royal supporter in Dhangadi, April 1, 2012.

“The mandate of peoples’ uprising (62/63) was not to overthrow the monarchy”, the supporter said and continued “The political parties have betrayed the population and monarchy.”

The former King’s public interaction was held in the presence of media.

Repeatedly provoked by his supporters, Gyanendra Shah nevertheless remained tight lipped.

Some 80 supporters had lined in queue to personally talk to the king at the Hotel Ruwas.

The former king also visited the Ghoda Ghodi Lake.

  • What is uprising? How and who controls it?? we have seen in past, uncontrollable herds, angry voices all over the country, and top of that international pressure. I believe, the supporters of him, they are always searching for a chance, but now flattering the ex-person means just fooling him and try to take advantages from him. Leaders should know how to lead the country, looking at his present and past, we cannot expect that he will revive again. There are few old generation still left, who imagine King as a story book hero, not the person but word ‘King’ imprinted in their minds. If the same situation was with massacred King and his family, if they were still alive, there were some chances, the page of hope would be always open for him. I cannot see his hold on journalist, his news on media proves it. I see people making fun on him, writing different news about him, also his followers amplify the joke.

  • A tola of gold is better to keep than kgs of iron. Why not we keep a king instead of hundreds foolish and brain tumor leaders of Nepal.

  • One lion as a king is far better than 100 jackals to rule the country.
