Nepal Maoists Baidya panel inching closer to Royalists: Dahal suspects

Chairman Pushpa Kamal Dahal of Unified Maoists’ Party said he was utterly surprised in the manner the party hardliner panel led by Mohan Baidya Kiran was getting closer with the former royalists.

NOIDA card fails instead nationalism card prevails now perhaps.

Dahal made this astonishing remark at a time when he was himself being suspected for having met with the former King prior to the latter’s West tour.

“They are getting closer with former royalists in the name of safeguarding national independence”, Dahal added.

So what is the harm Mr. Dahal? National independence must be preserved and for the same Chairman Dahal had roared in Baneshwar some time back when he was unseated from the PM chair. Who or which force preserves it becomes immaterial.

He made these statements at a training session held at the party headquarters in Kathmandu, April 1, 2012.

“No matter what happens, we will conclude the peace process and constitution drafting,” he assured the attending YCL cadres and added Dahal, “There is no relevance to stand against peace and constitution.”

“The ongoing struggle in the party is both political and ideological. Unfortunately Kiran panel cannot even directly reject the outcome of Chunbang meet, the 12 Points Agreement, the broader peace agreement and the interim constitution,” Dahal held and continued, “Thus it seems that their line is similar to former King’s and Kamal Thapa’s line.”

This is politics.

Dahal continued “Some leaders in the Kiran panel want to break the party and declare a revolt. However, I have found Comrade Baidya personally in favor of the party unity.”

Dahal is further quoted by Kantipur Online as saying, “Comrade Gajurel, Comrade Badal and Comrade Biplav are in favor of giving shape to a new party.”

Is it that the nationalists are inching closer? Keep on guessing. Juicy politics.
