Telegraph Nepal
“You have failed to draft the constitution in four years time. Who believes that you will do it in mere fifty six days”, point blank asked Chairman Kamal Thapa of Rastriya Prajatantra Party-Nepal at a program held in Kathmandu, March 30, 2012.
Present on the occasion were Prime Minister Baburam, Chairman Pushpa Kamal of Unified Maoists’ Party, President Sushil of Nepali Congress, Ramitey Chair of the Constituent Assembly Subash, leader Madhav of United Marxist Leninist, Chairma Chitra Bahadur K.C. of Rastriya Janamorcha Nepal, Chairman Bijaya Gacchedhar of Madhesi Janaadhikar Forum-Loktantrik and the fresh republican converts Chairman Pashupati Rana and Chairman Surya Bahadur of Rastriya Prajatantra Party and Rastriya Janashakti Party respectively.
Thus it was a gathering of those who have ruined the nation as per instructions from “above”.
Ambassadors of India and China, Jayant Prasad and Yang Houlan were also present at the program.
Elephant and the Dragon both together. A rare event indeed.
“I am confident that you will fail to draft the constitution. You can prove me wrong”, Kamal Thapa who leads the only party supporting revival of Hindu monarchy challenged the so-called republican leaders.
“I do not see that you will ever rise above your petty personal and party interests. In the name of democracy your objective is to establish an autocratic regime. No matter you keep on changing the drivers yet you will never reach the desired destination because you are following the wrong path.”
Kamal indirectly urged the parties to return to the original path. Monarchy!
“I would rather suggest you to focus on averting crisis that is knocking our doors”, he also said.
Chairman K.C of Janmorcha also openly criticized the three party leaders.
K.C. said, “You have been cheating to the people for the last 46 months. The general public has been quite happy with the Supreme Court’s final ruling. You better concentrate on completing the peace and constitutional tasks in the remaining two months.”
Both the fresh republican converts Thapa and Rana expressed hopes that the three parties will complete the tasks on time.
Bijaya Gacchedhar took reference of the Madhesi plight several times during his speech and threatened that constitution without federalism will not be accepted by the Madhesi population. “Constitution without federalism will divide the country,” he said.
Always stalking of split.
The defunct UML leader Madhav Kumar Nepal also expressed high hopes.
To hope is cost-free.
“I could see that the peace process is moving in the right direction. I am hopeful”, he said and added, “First peace process then only constitution.”
Lame duck Nepali Congress President opined, “Ethnicity based Federalism will be harmful to the country.”
Sushil was also of the view since the system of parliamentary democracy was never allowed to be practiced for long time thus to claim that the order was a failed one was not appropriate.
Subash Nembang requested the parties to shorten the process of constitution drafting.
What he means by shortening the process? Promulgate the New Delhi written Nepal Charter?
Chairman Dahal of Unified Maoists claimed, “Within eight to ten days all disputes over peace process will end. All other alternatives except peace and constitution will be harmful to the country.”
He then praised mighty India-his former shelter provider. Seducing act begins.
“India has played quite a significant role in the 12-Points agreement between Nepali political parties,” said Dahal and tried to balance his pro-Indian statement by stating, “China has always wanted stability and prosperity in Nepal.”
Be careful Beijing!
Prime Minister Baburam claimed, “Nepal should try to become a bridge between India and China.” With heavy heart he must have spoken.
