Nepal PM Bhattarai must resign for party unity: Netra Bikram

Telegraph Nepal

Only Prime Minister Baburam Bhattarai’s resignation could save the party from split, so opined Netra Bikram Chand ‘Biplav’ of Unified Maoists’ Party while addressing a press meet in Butwal of Rupandehi district, March 24, 2012.

Biplav belongs to the hardliner faction of the Maoists party led by Senior Vice Chairman Mohan Baidya Kiran.

“Chairman Pushpa Kamal Dahal was right is stating that presently party remains neither united nor divided”, said Biplav and added, “For party unity, Baburam’s resignation is compulsory.”

“One after another, the government is taking anti-national decisions. The anti-national government has failed to lead the country properly”, Biplav claimed.

“The alliance with smaller parties is to force the government out of office through a movement”, he said.

The other day a Unified National Uprising Committee comprising of meagre political parties with communist bend and the faction led by Mohan Baidya has been formed.

The unilateral decision of party Chairman Dahal to summon a central committee meeting is illegal, he claimed and added, as is the practice among communist parties, the general secretary calls the meeting yet our general secretary is completely unaware of such a meeting.

Is Maoists party still Communist paraphernalia?
