Nepal Armed forces may take over charge of nation: Kamal Thapa

Telegraph Nepal

According to Chairman Kamal Thapa of Rastriya Prajatantra Party-Nepal, the National Armed Forces could take over the nation’s charge immediately after May 27 deadline for constitution drafting expires.

Great revelation.

“The constitution will not be drafted within the stipulated deadline. It is certain. In such a situation, the Armed forces could grab the state power,” addressing a press meet on Sunday March 11, 2012 in Ithari, hinted Thapa.

“There are two forces equipped with army and weapons. One among the two forces will capture the state;” Thapa declared and continued, “Which one will prevail over the other is not predictable at the moment.”

Degrading the Nepal Army?

“Our party has the peoples’ support. We are not equipped with weapons. We will nevertheless continue to fight for the revival of monarchy in a peaceful manner.”

“The people have very well understood that Nepal without monarchy will continue to remain in an unstable state. The monarchy will eventually be restored with all its pride and glory,” Thapa concluded.

Thapa’s BHAKTI must be admired.

  • Whether the monarch will come back or not is up to TIME and people's perspectives. No worries there. But for Mr. Thapa to say that National Armed forces can take over the power is absurd. Then he degrades that to "one of them" will take power. The second, that is the Maoist rebels, can never take power. Neither have they got the capacity, nor is it desirable. They may have the strength to create problems and a lot of chaos, but to take over, is simply over-estimated and naive. Neither is it healthy for the Maoist party to do that. Our policiticians, ranging from the NC, UML, Maoists, the RPP, the Madhesh-based parties etc etc etc, all have a habit and practice of saying whatever they like. Girija died with his rhetoric of "grand design". The only grand desing we know is installing his daughter in politics and his desire to be the president by kicking the arse of the monarchy he so vehemently supported. So, while we cannot rest assured that politicians in Nepal speak the truth or have integrity, I truly wonder if there are laws to keep our leaders behind bards for saying whatever they want to say whenever they like and get away with it. Well, for sure, it is a democracy and people have the right to speak. But are worthless statements and whimsical ideas "entertainable" all the time?

  • Army needs to take over and give the responsibility of interim government to RPP-N. Only Kamal Thapa is the true patriot and a visionary leader we have left. He will see that we have a free and a fair election to choose our future, type of government and our leaders. The rest of the politicians are vultures preying on us and fattening up their bank accounts. Frankly, they all deserve to be exiled to India where they belong; except for Sujata, she belongs in a prison in Germany...or in a jail cell somewhere.

  • There's nothing harm and hit to democracy by reviving the democratic constitution of 1990 with some very minimum amendments in order to make sure about only ceremonial monarchy ( without executive powers ).There are many ways to check the monarch from using executive role which could only be granted to people's elected representatives.Showing one or few examples which were inadequate to completely sideline the very necessity institution of monarchy, has been largely cause of current messy situation. So,it's a must to review past mistakes and necessary to find out the solution so that Nepal's glory, prestige, status and democratic development could be able to bring back to track. The voices and demand of Last people's uprising was against the absolute or executive monarchy but not totally against the ceremonial monarchy that's why, politicians must stick on their step which are against the real spirit of movement and country's ground reality.
