Nepal’s Prime Minister Baburam’s political advisor and Unified Maoists’ Party Politburo member Devendra Poudel’s assertion in Butwal is the indication towards approaching new height of crisis in political front and also in the party’s relations with the Nepal Army, claim analysts.
Devendra Poudel aka Sunil made it clear that Baburam panel in the party will retaliate strongly but only on political and ideological grounds if the Prime Minister’s resignation is forcefully demanded.
“Why should the Prime Minister resign,” he asked and responded, “It is untimely and inappropriate to ask him to leave.”
Poudel is concerned perhaps what will be his own position if the PM resigned? No free monthly salary?
The Program was organized by Reporters Club-Lumbini Chapter, February 19, 2012.
Sunil out-rightly rejected the integration plan forwarded by the Army and said, “We had won the historic battle. The combatants who were victorious will not accept the integration where they have to undergo various test procedures.”
Is the Army listening?
The Nepal Army had the other day issued a strong statement and claimed that “Maximum 6,500 combatants will be integrated as per the army’s set standard and norms without affecting professional development of the NA except in terms of age, education and marital status as stated in the seven-point agreement. It will not be group or unit wise entry but based on individual basis and only those candidates who can fulfil standard rules, will be selected for integration”.
“We are open to transforming the same government into a national unity government. Our primary objective is peace and constitution”, said Sunil hoping against hope.
“We have the knowledge that conspiracies are being hatched to add to the current instability and derail this government. Plots are being hatched in the dark corners,” Poudel said pointing figures at none, not even to party chairman Pushpa Kamal Dahal.
Poor Sunil has yet to understand his party chairman Dahal!
