The Nepal Army which prefers to remain tight lipped when flurry of anti-national and separatist remarks are made by the Ministers including Nepal’s India trained Prime Minister Baburam himself, has however refuted a media report which claimed the other day that the Army in its new integration plan has accepted to provide major posts in the Army including a Brigadier General to the Maoist combatants as completely false.
The Public Relations Directorate of the Army issuing a strong statement has said that the army has not forwarded any proposal as such.
“Posts from Major to Second Lieutenant being created for combatants are also baseless”, the statement reads.
“Except concessions on age, education and marital status given by the government on the recommendation of the Special Committee, combatants who pass exams based on established norms, can be integrated in the Army posts up to Major level.”
“Maximum 6,500 combatants will be integrated as per the army’s set standard and norms without affecting professional development of the NA except in terms of age, education and marital status as said in the seven-point agreement. It will not be group or unit wise entry but based on individual basis and only those candidates who can fulfil standard rules, will be selected for integration”.
Analysts claim that the cat once again is out of the bag.
