Telegraph Nepal
Nepal’s last King Gyanendra Shah who during his stint as the country’s head was labelled as an autocratic ruler by the proven inefficient leaders of various political parties mainly the Nepali Congress and the Indian regime, in his message to the nation on the occasion of 62nd National Democracy Day- 2068, has said perhaps in a satirical manner that democracy should become a part of a daily life.
Jungle life or urban life?
Nepali political actors of the likes of Nepali Congress President Sushil Koirala though are considered as excellent orators on democratic principles but are themselves taken as highly undemocratic by their own party junior leaders. Perhaps Gyanendra was trying to point out towards these facts.
In order to strengthen democracy needs deep reflection from political, social, economical and cultural sides, he says in his message and continues, I am always committed to preserve nationalism, national integrity and democracy.
The former King has just returned from his New Delhi pilgrimage wherein he met with the Italy born Indian ruler.
Disintegration, deviation and revolt do not strengthen democracy, says the former king and adds, a system should always suite unique national environs.
Having said all these, Gyanendra also makes it clear that if the country is not independent democracy becomes insignificant.
“Prajatantra ko Chahak Gham le Sabai Nepaliko Talak Banos Ra Rastra Ko Ramro Jhalak Jhalkiyos”, he concludes his message in a poetic manner.
Ex-Nepal King is a poet also.
After his return from New Delhi pilgrimage it seems Gyanendra Shah is in a joking mood.
Thanks Alok Joshi and H. Kher, the RAW officials. May 28, 2011, lavish dinner appears to have worked.
