Nepal: MJF Prez. Upendra Yadav pounces upon Madhesi alliance

Telegraph Nepal

Upendra Yadav-Madhesi messiah of the bygone era spared much of his time criticizing Madhesi leaders representing the Unified Democratic Madhesi Alliance while delivering a “key-note” speech in Ineruwa of Sunsari district, February 14, 2012.

The alliance is a major constituent of the ruling coalition that also includes the so-called revolutionary Unified Maoists Party.

NOIDA used Fevicol adhesive to glue this alliance.

Yadav who leads the mother of all splinters of Madhesi Janaadhikar Forum (MJF) alleged that the leaders of the Madhesi alliance were themselves exploiting the Madhesi population for their petty political and personal interests.

Yadav mainly criticized Chairman Bijay Kumar Gacchadhar of MJF-Loktantrik and Jayprakash Prasad Gupta of MJF-Ganatantrik.

Yadav’s frustration is totally justified. He is not in government. The uneasiness is thus understandable.

He urged the Madhesi mass present at the second district assembly of his party to publicly ignore the alliance leaders. “The alliance has merely turned into a Maoists disciple,” claimed Yadav. To recall, Yadav when in government had faced similar allegation.

Yadav is taken as half Maoists because of his association with that party during the NOIDA sponsored People’s War.

Yadav may have jumped from one political party to the other during his entire political career but he is still a diehard communist, claim his former party colleagues.

He began his political career being a UML man.

The Unified Maoists Party has effectively used the alliance as a tool to continue exploit and marginalize the Madhesi population, said the former Maoists’ leader.

The problem of Madhesi population, the leaders feel, when not in power.
