Time to redefine Nepal nationalism: Maoists leader Ram Karki

By deriding at India, said Ram Karki of Unified Maoists’ Party talking to media January 25, 2012, we cannot strengthen our nationalism. Instead, said Karki we will be obstructing our path to prosperity.

Obviously, Karki is of one of the strong pillars of the pro-India panel inside the Unified Maoists’ Party led by none other than India’s ‘pyaro’ Prime Minister of Nepal Baburam Bhattarai.

The present government has proposed Karki as the ambassador to India.

To recall, in a fresh interview with Telegraphnepal.com, Dr.Rishi Raj Baral- a communist scholar associated with the same party had alleged that both Baburam and Ram Karki were subservient disciples of India.

He said, “India is using its longstanding subservient disciples like Baburam Bhattarai and Ram Karki to strengthen its grip inside our party. To a large extent, India has bagged successes in this regard already.” (Read More)

Nepal needs to redefine nationalism, advised Karki at the press meet and suggested further, the new definition of nationalism must be compatible to 21st century needs.

And the needs perhaps should suit India more than Nepal?

“The anti-India Nepali nationalism is rather negative. There is no space for India or China cards in Nepali politics”, said Karki and added, “India has always supported democratic movement and the peace process, we will continue to need the Indian support.”

He is demanding further support from NOIDA! Tighten your belts please.

Jitendra Dev of Madhesi Janaadhikar Forum-Loktantrik and Narayan Khadka of Nepali Congress also expressed flowery words praising India. Not at all an unexpected utterances.
