Powerless opposition parties, Rastriya Prajatantra Party, Rastriya Janshakti Party, Rastriya Janmorcha, Madhesi Janaadhikar Forum-Yadav, NCP-Marxist Leninists, NCP-Unified are being appeased by the long tested yet repeatedly failed political parties, Nepali Congress and United Marxist Leninist to form what they call ‘Anti-Maoist Alliance.’
Hoping against hope proven duffers!
The restive NC and United Marxist Leninist parties that were hand-in-glove with the former rebel party in the last half decade causing immense political and economic damage to the nation, now have begun appeasing the meager parties, as the Maoists with the support of the Madhesi front continue to pay no attention to their demands.
A meeting was held between the parties at the parliamentary delegation office of Nepali Congress, Friday January 20, 2011.
The long-time prime ministerial failed aspirant, Mr. Ram Chandra Poudel who leads the NC’s parliamentary delegation at the name sake parliament, opined that the Maoists continue to be indifferent towards the signed past agreements. President Sushil Koirala was also present at the meeting but he did not speak much.
Similarly, Arjun Narsingh K.C of Nepali Congress who used to be one of the strongest pillars of Panchayat Raj was of the view that, “The parties have decided to form an alliance because the Maoists were distorting the very spirit of the 12-Point Agreement and Broader Peace Agreement as per their needs.”
Both these two agreements were signed in NOIDA, New Delhi, to recall.
Also said K.C, “They do not have conviction in the democratic system, they are going against the past agreements. The situation is leading us to nowhere. Conclusion of peace and constitution related tasks are becoming increasingly impossible.”
As you sow, so will you reap.
Mr. Madhav Kumar Nepal of United Marxist Leninist who feels being distanced from his own party following the uncanny unity between Chairman Jhalnath and influential leader K.P. Oli, stressed that the Maoists were not at all democratic.
Who says Maoists are democratic, critics ask Madhav Nepal. Moreover, the Maoists have themselves said that they do not believe in the parliamentary system of governance.
“Their commitment to democracy is unpredictable. They are still plagued with the rebel mindset. The onus of Peace Process and Constitution drafting failure should be entirely borne by the Unified Maoist,” also opined poor Madhav Nepal.
Onus? Which onus? The onus must shift to NOIDA population.
