The Chairman of the United Marxist Leninist aka “luxurious” communist party of Nepal MR. Jhalanath Khanal has said that his party will stick to the commitment made by various parties while signing the seven point agreement, November 1, 2011.
Khanal also reminded his workers in Dhulabari, Jhapa, January 20, 2011 that the parties now have no other options left than to accomplish the two important national tasks: prevalence of peace and timely draft of the new constitution to which the parties while signing the seven point agreement had agreed upon.
“My party will not budge an inch from the said seven point agreement”, Khanal continued.
Lambasting at the Maoists, as is the habit of some political leaders, Khanal said “the UML can’t go along with those who deviate from the straight path and deliberately bring in conflict prone issues that contain the seeds of clash”.
He also criticized the Maoists by stating that the party will have now to abide by the agreement which had been made on the modality, numerical strength, rank adjustment and rehabilitation of the Maoist militias and suggested the Maoists to honor those agreements. He also advised the Maoists to speed up the process of peace and constitution following the agreements that have already been signed-the Maoists being one of the signatories.
“We have all been waiting for the time when the Maoists will exhibit their honesty towards the peace and the constitution drafting process as sans peace, the constitution draft was fairly impossible”, Khanal added.
He also reminded his obedient cadres of the fresh Supreme Court ruling which has already limited the life of the existing constituent assembly body.
“If we fail to draft the constitution keeping the SC’s order in mind then we are bound to plunge ourselves in a sort of political catastrophe”, Khanal concluded.
