The Chinese Ambassador to Nepal H.E. Yang Houlan has said that some international forces envious to Chinese prosperity, peace and stability have been orchestrating anti-China activities from inside the Nepali soil.
Better late than never he understood!
“We have the authentic information that our oldest and nearest friend Nepal is turning into a playground for anti-China activities. Some international and domestic forces are coordinating their activities against China,” Ambassador Houlan said at an interaction with the Nepali media, October 16, 2011.
Daring charge.
“We are fully confident that activities against China do not take place in a spontaneous manner in Nepal. Chinese authorities are being regularly informed of the clandestine anti-China activities being planned in Nepal. Nepal’s political parties and government is also abreast of such activities.”
However, the Chinese Ambassador preferred not to reveal the international as well as the domestic forces which have been teasing China from the Nepali territories.
When asked to express his views on the impending visit of Nepal’s Prime Minister Baburam Bhattarai to India said Ambassador Houlan, “I would suggest him to hold discussion not only on bilateral matters but also over trilateral issues.”
The Chinese envoy in many more ways than one has reminded Nepal PM Bhattarai that there were several Nepali issues which demanded China’s consent as well. China asserts its role.
“It does not really matter in the deep rooted relations whether Prime Minister of Nepal first travels to this country or that”, pat replied Houlan when asked to comment on the issue of Nepal’s PM visiting India first.
“Relations between China and Nepal have remained trouble free for the last five decades. Governments and systems have changed but the cordial relations have remained intact. We have adopted the policy of non interference in the internal matters of Nepal yet we are committed to support the constitution drafting and peace process”, also said the ambassador.
Very interesting remarks indeed in that China’s policy is not to interfere in Nepali affairs means that China is aware of such interventions in Nepal affairs from certain alien quarters and also China would wish to become a part in the overall Nepal’s peace process.
By implication it would mean that Nepal can’t ignore or reject China’s support in its peace and constitution drafting processes. Subtle message to Nepal PM Bhattarai and through him to the entire Indian establishment perhaps.
“China is now the world’s second largest economy. We want our friends to achieve similar prosperity. We are ready to extend our full support to Nepal in this regard”, he continued.
“We are currently preparing for a high level political visit from both the countries", revealed the Chinese envoy.
