Restless Indian regime with the increasing anti-India sentiment in Nepal which to a larger extent is the result of continuation of British Imperialist policy towards Nepal by India’s ruling elites since its independence in 1947, is organizing yet another seminar to discuss Nepal situation.
Earlier in January 2011, a similar seminar was sponsored by the Indian establishment and managed by the Vivekananda International Foundation, wherein former Royalists, so-called liberals and Maoists had been invited.
The restlessness of the Indian ruling elites becomes clear in that the seminar is being organized by the Public Diplomacy Division of Ministry of External Affairs, India and the topic is ‘Growing Anti-Indianism in Nepal: Myth or Reality’, it is reported.
The topic of the seminar is relates the nervousness of the Indian establishment.
The seminar which is being held in the ancient city of Varanasi in the state of Uttar Pradesh wherein including Madhes centric parties, leaders of major parties, senior journalists and academicians have been invited.
The participants have been arranged free air tickets, three days of free food, allowance and free Hotel lodging by the government of India. Seductions in series.
The seminar will also discuss various aspects of integration and rehabilitation of Maoists’ militias, overall peace process, federalism and existing business relation between the two countries, it is also reported.
Jitendra Dev of Madhesi Janadhikar Forum-Loktantrik who is among those fortunate participants from Nepal and will enjoy free Indian hospitality for three days tells Naya Patrika Daily, February 26, 2011, “I am told to present my views on papers presented by various specialists.”
The Indian specialists of Nepal who are close to the South Block quarters will present their working papers.
Thus what they will speak could be guessed in advance.
Leaders of Unified Maoists’ Party have also been invited. Old friendship can’t be ignored.
Senior economist and Professor Bishwambhar Pyakural and Journalist Kanak Mani Dixit too have been invited to participate in the holy city of Varanasi-the abode of Lord Shiva.
Indian foreign Minister S.M. Krishna will address the inaugural session and Nepal’s controversial ambassador to India, Rukma Shumser Rana and India’s outgoing ambassador to Nepal Sri Rakesh Sood, will also express their views during the seminar proceedings.
Only recently, Mulayam Singh Yadav of Samajwadi Party who is also the former Minister for Defense had accepted while addressing at the Lower House in India that Indian rulers are themselves to be blamed for sorry state of relations that now exist with Nepal.
One of the unnamed foreign ministry officials in Nepal comments talking to the daily, “As their Nepal policy has been a total failure, they could have organized the seminar”.
Nepal’s independent observers and impartial media men who in all likelihood will not become a part of the seminar on the other hand believe that it is absolutely irrelevant organizing such seminars one after another because until India treats Nepal on an equal footing in the comity of nations, respects Nepal’s sovereignty and independence and halts unnecessarily interfering in the internal matters of Nepal, anti-India sentiment will continue to grow.
“While China gets support by default, why is the need for India to pour in money into Nepal through formal and informal channels to buy support…the answer lay here”, observers claim.
Time to begin soul searching by the seminar organizers indeed!
