Nepal’s feudal forces do not have understanding of glorious past of this nation

Prem Kidi, Senior Journalist & Political analyst

He is a veteran Nepali journalist. He is known for his straight forward comments. Needless to say he is a strong nationalist who wishes to see a prosperous, stable and a democratic Nepal. He is a mature political analyst as well.
His analyses at times even surprise his detractors.

My association with this qualified intellectual Prem Kaidi dates back to three decades or even more. I recall how he used to forcefully push his views and the audience have had to accept his views for lack of befitting propositions.

This week, we invited him to our office for a Hi Tea. During the process, we talked with him on a variety of subjects. Below the results-chief editor.

TGQ1: You Mr. Kaidi being a veteran journalist how do you see the current situation in the country? Where the country is heading for? Your comments please.

Kaidi: Our nationality and sovereignty have never faced such a crisis in its entire history as it stands today. Unfortunately Nepal’s seven political parties have become the agents of the Joshua-2 crusaders, India’s river linking project and Jihadi type of movement. The result is complete chaos and destabilization in the country.

Add to this, the political parties have also failed to abide by their own drafted constitution. It is because of this the seven parties have failed to conduct of the elections to the Constituent Assembly at a distance. Notably, the communal harmony which we have had in the recent past too has been hit hard by the ruling parties.

The declaration of Nepal as a secular state is the sole conduct of the UN official Samuel Tamrat who not only damaged Nepal’s traditional culture and heritage but also tore apart the entire social fabric of the nation. In this job, the seven parties cooperated him to the hilt.

TGQ2: India is said to be interfering in our national politics. Do you subscribe to this view? Or have you some thing different to tell our readers?

Kaidi: It is not only India that is present in Nepal but also some other countries are present in this country. As Chinese professor Wang recently said that Nepal has become a place where several countries have begun to influence the politics of this country. India and the West have a fierce aggressive role in this country, as Prof. Wang recently said.

India is holding hostage the natural resources of Nepal; blocking the development of this country and above all India is directly spending money in the districts for influencing this country’s remote districts and areas.

India has already gulped Koshi, Gandaki, Pancheshwar and is now all set to gulp the West Seti and is intending to swallow Upper Karnali.

Apart from this, the UNMIN is likely to bring in the UN Peace Keeping force mainly comprising of the Indian military forces in Nepal. The UNMIN’s grand design is to target China as carefully analyzed by Professor Wang.

It is in this light, the fresh meet of the Dalai lama with President Bush recently the entire events in Nepal should be taken.

TGQ3: As an intellectual belonging to Karnali zone, do you have any thing to tell as to why this zone is underdeveloped?

Kaidi: Karnali is the most ancient center of human civilization. The emperor of seven sub-continents was Manu whose capital was in Jumla. In modern history, Taimur Lung-the world conqueror-was killed by Jumla’s Bats Raj Shahi. Jumla thus gained world’s suzerainty. Later Jumla’s King Sobhan Shahi was defeated by Gorkha King and the former left for Lhasa-Tibet-his maternal place. Later Chinese supported the  defeated Jumla King by sending one lakh Chinese forces to fight against the Kathmandu rulers. Despite having such a glorious history, after the conspiracy of the Britishers during the time of Sugauli treaty, the history of Jumla was disorganized. The conspiracy even continued when Jumla came under the rule of Nepali rulers. Thus the underdevelopment continues even today.

TGQ4: Is Constituent Assembly the panacea of the Nepali ailments plaguing this country?

Kaidi: Let me tell you very frankly, the present day rulers in the seven party alliances, do not know the history of this country and are the agents of some alien forces.

Nepal’s palace and other feudal forces too do not have any understanding of the glorious past of this nation.

A poll that is considered to be the best is also being given to understand that it is not going to prove beneficial for this country. The CA polls being though best but is being taken in a manner that has already put question marks on our national integrity and sovereignty. The CA poll was an act that could have been used for the betterment of the people’s rights but it is being used as a tool against the basic rights of the people and also against the basic tenets of the country.

TGQ5: I suppose you are championing a movement. What is that? Would you please explain?

Kaidi: I call upon all the national and international friends that we the Nepalese must unite to preserve the great tradition and culture of this nation and to make this country stand tall amongst the comity of the nations.

As of now, I have united twenty regional ethnic political fronts under the captainship of Ram Raja Prasad Singh and we are planning to wage a strong movement for the safeguarding nationalism, strengthening democracy; and basic human right. We also strive for lasting peace in this country.

We seek valuable support from all the people living in the High Himalayas, Pahad, Madhes including those living in Karnali region so that a sort of permanent peace and stability could be guaranteed in this country.
