With the rise in temperature, exasperation that has been already noticed among the laymen too is taking a new but dangerous height. The national population, under this or that pretext, have begun ventilating their grievances in a much more aggressive manner. Thus what could be fairly said of the country’s situation that we are very close to an upheaval which is likely to engulf this Shangri-La, of once upon a time meticulously damaged by 12 point agreement soon, whose toll could be much higher that one’s imagination.
Each and every sector of the Nepali society is in a mood to retaliate. Each section of the society has certain logical and even at times illogical demands to which the State has either to address or convince forwarding plausible logic.
However, the ruling quarter is busy in finalizing the ministerial portfolios and thus the people’s ire against the rulers and the State apparatus is increasing each minute and is likely to explode any time soon if not handled on time with proper finesse. Talks of demanding lucrative ministries are in the air. Shame!
We at this paper have been visualizing in advance some sort of political snowstorm which is sure to hit Nepali politics very hard. The blizzard mentioned above is in the making and the moment it takes a full shape and is loaded with the needed and required destructive elements, it will flounce the nation in no time. The State authorities unfortunately have been ignoring the approaching scene for certain mysterious reasons. Nevertheless, if the hurricane enters the Nepali sky, the rulers too surely would be the victim or at best they would be the ones to be taken proper care by the cyclone which is, as told, is in the making. The upward trend observed in the atmospheric pressure and mercury will soon exhibit its enigmatic role.
We fear that the current political fluidity if is allowed to take a malevolent turn then that would in all likelihood shatter our long standing communal harmony to the extent that a section of the Nepalese may take the other set of the Nepalese nationals as their prime enemies.
The entire Western region is boiling since two weeks or so and is likely to take a new dimension if the State apparatus does not act fast. The possibility of the West agitation may later; chances are fair, spread to some other regions of this country with their fresh frightening demands.
Myriad of issues and problems have come up to the fore. Each and every section of the society has begun demanding a separate state for them. The society is not at fault. However, the fault lay solely with those parties and their respective leaders who injected in to their minds that if they come to power they will award to what they have been demanding now. Thus if the State agrees upon their demands under coercion then Nepal will have to bear with at least fifteen hundred splits. One Nepali falling in one region or even a village will have to seek entry visa to travel or even to meet his or her near and dear relatives who unfortunately now has been told that he or she belonged to this Pradesh or that neighboring village. It would be tentatively like hundreds of Koreas’ right inside one Nepal.
The worst happened in Janakpur just the last week. Some innocent Mithila State champions had to sacrifice their precious lives by some naughty elements or better say anti-social hooligans. We condole their untimely death of the Nepali nationals from Mithila region and hope that the State, if it exists at all, would do all it can not to allow such deadly events to recur again in any place of the country. Forwarding demands is not at all a crime. However, what is a crime when the champions of some cause are treated in an inhumanely manner such as the one that rocked Janakpur.
Without forwarding any partisan suggestions, we wish that Nepal as a nation-state remains intact keeping its untarnished ( 12 point though has damaged Nepali prestige immensely) image which is what once again demands the unconditional communal harmony in between the Nepalese wherever they may have been residing. Sense of oneness must prevail or we will be declared a party endorsing the 12 point naked drama that was staged across the border with some designed purpose which in effect allowed all the dirty evils to enter into sacrosanct Nepal-our Nepal. Unfortunately, sons of the same mother soil too were involved in this dirty act.
It is high time that we the entire Nepalese remain in a solid state as some aliens right here in Kathmandu have begun playing dirty games a la 12 point game which has damaged the country beyond repair. The bids are on to further damage the entire national fabric.
