Telegraph Nepal, EditorialsQuestion is not as to who is the foreign mole in Nepal. The Himalayan question indeed is who is not, notably more so in the media and the political sector. This is what we presume. We may be wrong in our calculation.
In effect, conduct between nations run like this wherein foreign agents pass on information to the country from where they pocket monthly salaries or draw benefits. Albeit, so far we have not heard of any foreign agent working for free. Money transactions do take place inevitably or else why one should become a Jaychand, Mirjaffor or even Lendhup Dorje?
Thus it is understandable that such foreign agents take money in lieu of supplying information to the one who pays. Kathmandu’s political circuit at times also talks of Nepali agents working for RAW, CIA and the likes and extract hefty under table money. This way these agents were exhibiting their Nepali patriotism. It is even talked that a foreign agent would wish to demand money from his own relatives because of his or her old but accustomed habits.
Now let’s come back to the point.
The issue is at best related with the Nepal Maoists party. Though we have no right or whatsoever to dig the details of what is going inside the Maoist party, however, we can’t remain undisturbed when we are told by some high level Maoists party authorities were engaged in nefarious activities and have had been acting like an agent of a foreign country and wish to swell the strength of the alien followers inside the party. We apologize for having dared to pen this story. Perhaps we should have renounced from doing what we have already done. But we are also reminded of our media ethics.
Such acts must draw the attention of the media men and the men engaged in such anti-national acts need to be exposed so that such practices never get repeated in the future and the party men also could understand the special man who was betraying his or her own nation and party as well. The objective here is also to benefit the country.
According to a senior Maoists party leader, Dr. Rishi Raj Baral, one such agent was making grand efforts in order to indianise his party. Though we would wish to refrain from publishing his name in this column, however, Dr. Baral in some of our own columns will himself take the pains of exposing the sad and bad name himself.
Now the question is that why this “blamed” person is acting on behalf of India and which political benefits he is to extract from the friend across the border? Mind it that Maoists party being a party formed by the Nepalese nationals, it becomes all the more urgent and thus necessary to go deep into the very ill intentions of this Maoist party’s established leader as to why he is doing so at the cost of his party and the nation at large?
Frankly speaking, we at this paper had been suspecting the very political credentials of this particular leader, as bluntly identified Dr. Baral, much ahead of Baral’s disclosure. Yet we refrained from taking him-this particular person, as a villain of the party and finally of the nation. However, nature has its own rules and regulations. Mother Nature apparently wanted to disclose his very good name from the horse’s mouth and thus we have published a long opinion of the Maoists scholar. But yet our intention is not to malign the very credentials of this august Maoist leader because we presume that he may have done so under some sort of compulsions or for that matter to settle the matter for good with good motives. But he should explain. However, when such allegations of grave nature emerge then one has to remain cautious as to whether his or her acts may or not pose a grave threat to this nation in particular and the party he serves at the moment in general. Simply because the nation should always be accorded top priority as and when such allegations surface to the fore.
Let’s not stretch the debate for long as it is neither in the interest of this nation nor of the party concerned. All that we wish that a true nationalist or for that real Nepali citizens must refrain from committing such acts that directly hit the nation hard from all possible directions and the aliens benefit from our own dangerous follies.
By the way, we mean no harm to the one(s) about whom we have penned the story. He or she is still in our hearts because we take this special personality as Nepal’s national leader having vast potential to steer this country time permitting. But yet we would wish that the person blamed by this Maoists scholar too responds and expresses his opinions in this regard. We hope that we will, on behalf of the entire readers of this paper both within and without, get the needed response. Let’s hope that positive reply comes to us. That’s all.
