Nepal: New PM search begins

Editorial, Telegraph weekly

Nepal as a nation-state may have been forced to gulp a bitter Indian pill (but wasn't it a willing exercise?), November 22, 2005, yet the country as such and its people are a rare commodity in the world in that it is this special Himalayan breed which have become an addict to such forced impositions from above and thus it is very natural that “we the people of Nepal” take all these ups and downs in a light manner. Thanks our present day leadership that they have been injecting in our brains that we must remain ever subservient to our so called big brother. Teaching dirty lessons. Dirty minds teaching dirty lessons. Nothing new.

Big brother is thus extracting political benefits from our subservience and Himalayan follies nonstop.
But a strange phenomenon gripped this country beginning 2006. We now have a habit of enjoying in changes as and when that does take place or made so. It is not that we the people are changing, instead our ruling elites keep on changing every now and then. In the process, the people now enjoy free live entertainment thanks the Idiot box. The process continues and will perhaps continue for some more decades till one fine morning we are told that you the mercenaries of some alien forces have approached the end of Nepali civilization.
To come to the point, each and every Nepal Prime Minister is not of Nepal’s preference.
Admit this reality. Someone mercifully decides for us as to which one would be the best for them but not for the Nepalese. After all "traditional" friendship must matter.
India is really kind hearted country which takes so much of care.
But it is widely given to understand that Nepalese were choosing their Prime Minister(s). It is a farce only. In the filthy run for Prime Minister ship in Nepal, some six ugly personalities have already been selected beginning 2006 by some of our intimate friends across the border which in essence determines which breed of Horse it would like to ride to run the Nepal protectorate?
Many new uglier faces appear in the pipeline with some unwanted repetition as well. However, as things stand today, we will have comfortably a new Prime Minister, almost a sinking horse by any measuring standard,  soon as the would be Prime Minister has already been encouraged none less than by two distinguished Indian nationals Sukh Dev, and Dr. Karan Singh together with one of our own NOIDA Nepali national Prachanda.
Definitely we have been talking of frail Nepali Congress President Sushil Prasad Koirala who must have begged this post while on a recent New Delhi pilgrimage as is usual with Nepal’s Indo-pendent leaders.
Thus Sushil Koirala is in an excited state which means that he has the needed and the required blessings from his Indian Gods as is being taken by the majority of the population here back in Nepal.
Ram Chandra Poudel though has claimed that it was now his turn to be at the helm of State affairs.
Dr. Karan Singh, let’s not forget, that he is an Indian national first and then only the friend of Nepal. Thus he may have sounded such a lucrative proposal to the perusal of an almost defunct Koirala keeping into proper account of the unaccomplished jobs which were left by BIPPA Nepal Prime Minister Dr. Bhattarai. By extension this does also mean that India has several scores to be settled from Nepal now from frail and redundant Koirala-the entire lineage of which, history is the witness, has ever remained as an Indian tool in Nepal to serve the Indian prime interests.
But the question is also that will Chairman Dahal, a RAW man as dubbed by his own party senior colleagues, allow Koirala to jump to this coveted seat? Will not he try his own luck for the same seat?
The fact is that Chairman Dahal has already begun playing his dirty tricks. The postponement of the Nepal Maoist party’s Central Committee meet for some good ten days or so is solely meant, as some sharp brains conclude, to allow Bhattarai’s rivals, Mohan Baidya and his hardliner panel, to do the necessary homework on how to unseat his political arch rival-Dr. Bhattarai-the Nepali Prime Minister by default.
That it is so gets reflected from the fresh utterances made by Maoist leader, Dev Gurung, in favor of a new government led by his own party Chairman Prachanda with whom he, read Dev Gurung, was not even in speaking terms because of the BIPPA and the four point deal with the Madhesh centric parties now partnering the BIPPA government. A volte face indeed. This must have some meaning.
All in all, Nepal is in shambles. The people are being repeatedly cheated by their own leaders. For the Nepalese leaders, serving alien forces perhaps is the single agenda. If so then Almighty is only the savior. Bear with such a situation. Remain in an insulted and humiliated state ad infinitum as this is our fate.
