Nepal: Nationalist and anti-nationalist dilemma
Editorial
Telegraph Nepal
We possess no authority or whatsoever to deride our own national politicians for their flimsy comments that they make at times, as we understand that the Nepalese people will have to bear with these “tribulations” for an indefinite period for we can’t replace them with the Indian leaders.
After all, monotonous, corrupt or brokers whatever they may be, we have reposed trust on them and have told them all to steer the nation even in 'horrible times' that we have now which is certainly their own creation. 12 point kind support included.
Nepal’s biggest threat is that we have the leaders in the form and shape of problem creators. We can’t sideline them for some substantial reasons.
Yet we wish to differ with those who in a blunt manner have taken the current coalition headed by Dr. Babu Ram Bhattarai as “anti-national”, to put it precisely in their own words.
In saying so these political luminaries who are now in the footpath wish firstly to disseminate the information around the globe that neither Nepal Prime Minister Bhattarai can be trusted for his excessive leaning towards the Indian establishment (that he has in effect) and secondly the Madhesi leaders who have joined hands with the Maoists leadership and dared tacitly to provide a formal shape to the current coalition did so under the instructions of the friend across the border.
These political animals, beginning, hardliners Mohan Baidya, C. P. Gajurel, inferiority complex ridden duo Madhav Kumar Nepal, Jhal Nath Khanal and a sizeable section of the defunct-subservient Nepali Congress leaders, conclude tentatively that the government led now by Dr. Bhattarai in all likelihood will sale Nepal and the Nepali population will remain as a mere spectator.
Mind it dear friends, Nepal is not an apple or a mango which could be sold in the market. Nepal is a nation-state with its glorious and unbending past and thus anyone who thinks that Nepal was a market commodity is grossly mistaken. He or she should instantly correct his or her incorrect assessment.
Yet some Lendhups have surfaced. We admit this reality. Unsung deaths will they die finally.
Tell us how this coalition suddenly became an anti-national one? Kindly enlighten us all at this paper and beyond how the men partnering the current government will disintegrate the nation?
Even if they have the inner desire to do so, per chance, is the nation-state so fragile and weak that it could fall to pieces?
The fact is that those who continue to remain blessed by the Indian regime become suddenly nationalist and the other section which is denied such blessings begin making lunatic claims that the nation would be sold and that the sovereignty and the territorial integrity of the country would cease to exist?
This is just a extremist explanation and presumption.
Albeit, India knows how to use and throw. When India had to sideline the monarchy, the country across the border managed the convergence of the entire Nepali forces and forced them all to sign the 12 point plague that it proved to be. Wasn’t it an anti-nationalist display? Moreover, how to take the Nepal Maoists residing in New Delhi under Indian government’s protection while devastating their own motherland in the name of the so called people’s war? Was it a nationalistic move? Had the war been waged to bring in about a substantial transformation of the torn Nepali society as they claimed then? The erstwhile revolutionaries who dreamt of changing the Nepali society albeit changed their personal habits and changed themselves from the messiah of the proletariats to novo feudal aristocrats. Isn’t it a fact? We have been told that the New Delhi residing Maoists top echelon leaders, the harbinger of change as they claimed themselves for some years, have become billionaires. Can Prachanda walk on the footpath? Can he revert to his previous rag-bag bobby tail lifestyles?
Can even Gajurel, Mohan Baidya and Madhav or for that matter Khanal live a life what is in the fate of a common man in Nepal? Can these stinking blood suckers return the government owned vehicles which they all in an unashamed manner took along with them upon vacating their acquired Prime Ministerial or ministerial posts? Can the Maoist leadership go to the jungles to wage a fresh people’s war because the change has not yet come to the door steps of the Nepali destitute and the exploited ones? Delhi is sure not to buy their explanations this time.
If not then how can they point their dirty fingers at the members of the current coalition partners? Certainly, India has made this coalition. The Indian authorities will kick them all out from the present government the moment the Nepali ministers will begin ignoring to abide by the Indian instructions. This is for sure. That is why the Nepalese people take India as a dirty country with destructive brain.
Girija served India as a stooge until he counted his last breath. Prachanda had to serve the Indian instructions because he had to pay the price of the NOIDA salt. However, when he denied paying, he was sacked. Likewise, election defeated Madhav was made the Prime Minister by the Indian regime or else nowhere in the world, is an election defeated candidate made the Prime Minister at least in a country which practices democratic order. But he was made because India had so many things to be got done through Mr. Nepal in India’s favor. Similarly, a beaming India fell flat when Khanal became the Prime Minister. A big headache for India. But ultimately managed Khanal’s ouster because India felt that Khanal was a China man and thus he should not rule Nepal. Prachanda was used and finally kicked.
Dr. Bhattarai is now elevated as Nepal PM. Undoubtedly, Dr. Bhattarai is an India man or at least this is being given to understand both by a section of Nepali media which is primarily backed by the visible Indian pleasure that the Delhi authorities and some third grade local Indian leaders exhibit much to the discomfiture of Dr. Bhattarai himself.
One Indian duffer is in town who has been eulogizing PM Bhattarai. Or he is damaging? Thanks this erratic Indian national has left Kathmandu.
But will Bhattarai dare to commit anti-national activities? Isn’t he himself a Gorkhali? Even if he dares to do so, will he be allowed by the rest of the non JNU Nepalese? Is he the master of Nepal and is his own country a market commodity?
To cut it short, the Madhesi leaders will act in an honest manner. We should be afraid of the Daura-Suruwal men who have in the past signed several anti-national agreements and treaties with India, if one were to recall.
Be it Matrika Prasad, B.P. or even King Mahendra of the Kalapani fame. Much later, Girija Prasad in Daura-Suruwal sold all the Nepali rivers at a dirt cheap price. The rest of the rivers were sold by Sher Bahadur Deuba in Daura-Suruwal.
We don’t have any information as of now that the Madhesi leaders in Dhoti and Kurta have signed any anti-national agreements with India. They may have some ROTI-BETI ties and prefer an open border. That's all.
Having said all these, we wish to tell our readers not to suspect the very credentials of Nepal’s Madhesi leaders. If they are corrupt then the men in Daura-Suruwal are no less corrupt.
Corrupts are corrupts, unless proven, no one has the right to call the other set of Nepali nationals as anti-nationals.
Soul searching must begin. However, we know that PM Bhattarai will be brought to the footpath by the same regime which elevated him to this post. Just the matter of time. Foreign Minister Narayankaji has already set the ball rolling.( Read five questions). Hisila's talked highhandedness in Prime Ministerial affair will contribute to Bhattarai's early down fall. This is for sure.
The one who can't tame his erratic wife can in now way steer the country. Bhattarai better resign or be ready for national humiliation.
