Nepal: Act fast or face the music

Editorial

One is free to go mad as it is his or her fundamental right. If we believe in a democratic system then we have to abide by the norms and the very values that add to the beauty of the system itself and thus one who wishes to kill himself should be allowed to destroy him or herself. However, care must be taken that such willing mercy butchery or for that matter going nutty must not persuade others to take on to the same path which is different than Prachanda Path. Encouraging others to go against the norms and the processes of the democratic system should be taken as a transgression which thus may demand punitive actions as per the laws and the regulations prevailing in a democratic system.

Thanks we too have a banana system in prevalence.

We presume that the defunct but yet the majestic CA body must initiate an exhaustive dialogue on whether a national of a democratic country should be allowed to go mad willingly or not? We think that such a chat would go a long way in strengthening a banana system that we have in existence now whose coherent findings could well be copied by other nationals which practice best among the worst systems in the world. We think there is common sense in this ground-breaking idea that fortunately we have forwarded for the perusal of all those who believe and practice democracy.  Whether this sparkling idea clicks the sharp brains around the world or not can’t be predicted at this point in time as the idea has just been floated. It may consume some time but we are sure that people will definitely be in agreement or at least will be closer to our well-brought-up proposition. Yet one is free to oppose with our somewhat surprising thrilling ideas that we quite often float.

Looking at the Nepalese politics, we can’t say that the six hundred white elephants of which comprise a handful of “heroes and builders” of new Nepal maneuvering politics in a merciless manner have all gone barmy thanks the kind courtesy of the Almighty, however, what can surely and genuinely be said that the common men who reposed their faith and trust among the Hercules and Alexander(s) the Great of Nepali politics are likely to go round the bend and begin pulling their hairs whatever remains in their respective heads soon if the politics continues to get deteriorated further.

The likelihood of such an eventuality remains unbroken. We have some four months plus. Nothing to worry about.

Frankly speaking, the common men have become tired of listening to the stale news and the repetition of the words such as, for example, “close to consensus”, “we have agreed to disagree”, “agreement is round the corner”, “we are nearing to a consensus”, “most of the issues have been agreed upon but yet some critical issues remain”, India is playing foul game” and the likes.

Such words don’t now entertain the common men but instead have become unwieldy for us all. The super white elephants understand that the people have become utterly perturbed but yet fit tightly to the same redundant catchwords perhaps they fear that the people need to be kept on feeding such decayed news or else the laymen could retaliate in a forceful manner as and when they become face to face with the public in the footpath-the ultimate place of the now high flying blood suckers. Such a fight is round the corner.

Perhaps when enough had been already enough, one super flop Nepali leader of the bygone era but yet kicking and alive while talking to one of the Television Channels of the country, January 15, 2011, afternoon did admit that introducing the people that he was the member of the Constituent Assembly was a frightening phenomenon now .

“We feel insulted and remain alert in now allowing the people to know that we were the CA members”, said the flop Nepali leader to the TV channel.

He, however, did not tell the people through the TV telecast that he was not pocketing the monthly allowances and various other perks and facilities from the CA accounts department for being a “shameful” member of the CA body. This does mean that he was still gulping the money. Shame on him and his ilk.

In all, the people have become twitchy. The restiveness observed of late among the laymen across the length and breadth of the country could be fatal for the current CA members. Our duty is to warn them all not to introduce themselves as CA honorable members. We don’t want to see our national burdens to be insulted and humiliated in public places or even beaten by some interested quarters. We still respect and honor them.

It is a negative travel advisory for Nepal CA members. Act fast or face the penal actions any time. People have already lost their serenity. Patience too has a limit that you the CA members must understand. Take the free advice seriously. Jhal Nath Khanal has already faced the public slap. That’s all for this week.

  • Our great democracies still tend to think that a stupid man is more likely to be honest than a clever man ... ... politicians take advantage of this prejudice by pretending to be even more stupid than nature has made them. - Bertrand Russell
