YCL be sent to guard national frontiers

Enough, we presume, has become enough. We the people have been continuously subjected to various sorts of mental tortures of late more so after the advent of Loktantra.

WE can’t move as there is a strike under one pretext or the other. We can’t go to the schools for various political reasons. We have no water to drink. In addition to all these traumatic experiences, we are told that there would be continued “load-shedding” and hence the panic.

The vandals and the hooligans in various forms and avtars have been pounding upon the people be it in the capital district or elsewhere in the countryside. To the extent that the government bureaucracy too appears to be in a mood to threaten the government for their own logical/illogical reasons.

The High ways have become the victims of different movements initiated by various ethnic sects and tribes which appear genuine at times.

The parliament session continues to be in a state of coma which could be described as neither dead nor alive. However, the MPs continue to draw their perks and the salaries from the parliament secretariat. Not a shame for them for even looting the House for the period wherein the House continues to be adjourned.

Reports have it that the EPA partners have developed a crack in their “unity” that was forced on them by New Delhi Hakims.

Add to this the terror and panic thus being created by the Young Communist league cadres here and there. It is not that the YCL made all the blunders, they have earned a good name so far as social reformations are concerned. Kudos to them. However, the naughty and the most undemocratic acts they have been committing of late in the city and elsewhere have infused a sort of terror and panic among the denizens of the country who now conclude that the Maoists as a party of the ex-rebels will soon see an untimely demise because of the erratic behavior of the YCL activities.

What the Mandaleys were to the erstwhile Panchayat, the YCL appears to be for the Maoists. The message is loud and clear.

The YCL activities of late have crossed all the possible bearing limits of the citizens across the country. Not even a single day passes wherein a sad event has not been caused by the errand YCL activists. The list might go long. To the extent that the YCL cadres only the other day pounced upon a UNHCR vehicle that was carrying the American Ambassador, James F. Moriarty in Damak, Jhapa district.

The YCL personal assault on Ambassador Moriarty, analysts presume, would boomerang on the Maoists. But how the Americans will retaliate is yet a matter of guess works only. If the US envoy prefers to inflate the issue he can do so easily which would mean that practically all the powerful and meaningful donor community would wish not to fund or even would like to suspend their funding to the already ongoing projects in Nepal. If that does happen would mean the crumbling of the nation-state as Nepal for years to come will have to depend on donations. If the donors are not willing to donate, we can’t press them to yield to our dictates.

The worst is yet to come. If the US issues a travel advisory for its citizens restricting their travel plans to Nepal would automatically be adopted by its allies in Europe. This would mean a sharp decline in the number of tourists visiting Nepal. If that does happen would also mean a sharp decline in Nepal’s foreign currency reserve.

Analysts possess some tips for the Maoists on how to use the latent potential of their Young Communist league cadres. Well, the Maoists can effectively use their presence right across the Nepal-India borders wherein every day the Indians have been encroaching upon Nepali lands. The process thus continues even as of today according to the Jan Manch weekly dated May 27, 2007.

In doing so, the Maoists will not only be able to engage their cadres to a nationalist task but would also earn kudos from the Nepali population if they become really able to keep the Indians at a comfortable distance from the borders that divide Nepal and India. It is time that the YCL cadres exhibit their political acumen in defending their own nation from the continued onslaught from the authorities across the border.

But then the million dollar question arises: will they dare to do so? Will the Maoists party dare to instruct its cadres for such an adventure? Have the YCL guts to save their own territories here and there from the hands of the Indian establishments and its stooges residing in Kathmandu’s political circle and in the bordering areas? Do the Maoists possess the guts and the capabilities to check India from encroaching upon our lands? Are the Maoists a Lion at home and a jackal for the foreigners more specially the Indian authorities? Let’s presume it is not what has been said here.
