Kathmandu: Politics is vacillating as if it were a pendulum.
The grubby politicians, as they have proved for themselves already, appear unenthusiastic in providing a stable feature to the dwindling politics which is of their own creation manufactured under alien instructions some six years ago. With a big bang indeed.
The idea, as guessed, perhaps is to lengthen the transitional period ad infinitum so that chaos reigns supreme for all time to come.
However, some sharp brains see in this entire game the hand of a foreign power which is now hell bent on reviving the now sidelined 1990 Constitution and thus none of the leaders ruling the country, being in the government or in the opposition, exhibit their seriousness towards the draft of the new Charter as promised immediately after the 2006 political change which, for some days, provided an impression to the deaf and dumb Nepali population that Nepal soon will catch up the Singapore development scale.
However, that was not forthcoming instead Nepal in the name of creating a New Nepal is not even the former Nepal which it used to be with its full pride and glory.
The “revolutionaries” of the long-gone time have already become money spinning factories wherein their own workers, read the revolutionary cadres who fought by being in the ROLPA dangerous jungles, have been denied their due share as promised by their radical leaders somewhere seated across the border. Local hosts care was already in place.
Save the self declared “regional boss” elevated Nepal Prime Minister, Babu Ram Bhattarai, not even a single leader consider that the country will receive a new constitution. Babu Ram perhaps knows where it is being drafted for the Nepalese people.
Analysts believe that the ploy is to keep Nepal in an unstable condition sans the new constitution and allow the free entrance of “some” one stronger who could steer the country with the Indian backing.
While the floating of the “nationalism card” has worked effectively, further bids are in progress to encourage the Indian establishment to think twice as to which force in Nepal should be told to rule the country who will accept subservience to the former British Colony.
The frequent and mysterious visits being made by some Nepali leaders to New Delhi is not for nothing. It is loaded with meaning in that, high placed sources now have begun claiming, India now has reached to a conclusion that former King Gyanendra, if accepts to remain submissive towards India as the Bhutan King, could be the best option to be “installed” back to the Nepali throne with the revival of the now defunct 1990 constitution. India is both friend and a foe concurrently. Diplomacy par excellence!
The former King during his “secret meet” with the India’s de facto ruler Mrs. Sonia Gandhi, while being in Delhi reportedly convinced her of his “importance” in Nepal and in the process also hopefully assured her that he will “check” the Chinese advance and influence in Nepali politics.
India’s proxy Prime Minister, Dr. Man Mohan Singh, too perhaps subscribed to the theory pushed by former Nepal King which gets reflected in his fresh interview with one South Korean daily wherein he explicitly states that “China can’t be contained”. He spoke the truth.
In saying so, Dr. Singh has spoken so many things unspoken.
He firstly, admits that (by implication) the US idea of containing China through the effective use of the Indian establishment may be counterproductive to the Indian regime itself ultimately.
Secondly, in saying so Dr. Singh perhaps has realised that it would be a foolish act to ‘tease’ China as both belong to this part of the world.
China is already an observer in the SAARC regional body of which India is the Daddy.
Thirdly, Dr. Singh also has apparently realised that India must not get carried away by the US lollypop and make China angry.
Fourthly, India perhaps has understood that the US simply wants a proxy war with China by using the Indian machinery. And finally, both India and China may have talked with each other that they must jointly work is keeping the US and its allies at a distance for some understandable reasons.
Indian thinkers close to South Block have begun penning stories on these lines.
However, this should not mean that India and China will be at ease because territorial disputes remain intact and the Dharmshala factor continues to annoy China. The local Indian lobby is enough to destabilise China.
Having said all these, for India the best bet would be to install the now dethroned Nepal King who would in all his honesty keep China at a distance and act as per the Indian suggestions. Nepali monarchy knew how to balance the neighbours.
Analysts presume this.
China, analysts hope, too would not mind the revival of Nepal Monarchy as it could be a reliable institution in taming the anti-China elements as it did in the past.
As stated in this paper some three weeks ago, the former Nepal King encouraged by Sonia’s assurances is touring across the country under this or that pretext.
A fresh report has it that the now sidelined King just prefers his role as British equivalent. So claims Dr. Keshar Jung Raymajhi-one of the close confidante of the former King even as of now.
According to Dr. Raymajhi, Mrs. Sonia Gandhi too is thinking on these lines. Mother India’s magnanimity.
Sonia dethroned him and now Sonia prefers his comeback! “Strong nationalist’s polite appeal” has been heard by the Indian Queen. A matter of pride or just the otherwise for the brave Gurkhas who shook the world while being in the several war fronts in the past?
Sharp brains opine that the “lavish late night dinner” which the former Nepali monarch threw in “honour” of the visiting RAW gentlemen, Alok Joshi and H. Kher, May 28, 2011, at his private residence is yielding positive results. To recall, this dinner date is meaningful as the CA tenure was to expire the very next morning.
Yet some other sources authentically claim that a “Royal Statement” was already drafted to be aired through several TV channels of the Monarch’s comeback (the same night) citing reasons that the CA body has repeatedly failed in drafting the new constitution.
Perhaps with the same ruse “HIS” comeback will be facilitated albeit with the Indian backing. The present CA body is very much likely to be dissolved. Let’s presume it in advance then. The fresh Supreme Court ruling has gone in “favour of the people”.
